In a previous tutorial, we discussed how to build a responsive landing page with Bootstrap 4. Today, we’ll learn how to create an animated landing page with Material Kit, a free Bootstrap 4 UI Kit based on Google’s Material Design.
To implement it, we’ll use a combination of Bootstrap 4’s helper classes, Material Kit’s additional classes, and custom code when needed.
What We’ll be Working Towards
Here’s the page we’ll be building during this tutorial (take a look at the full page view for maximum effect):
The concept behind this page is to provide a quick overview of Scotland. The text content will come from Wikipedia, while the images will come from Unsplash.
Note: This tutorial assumes you have some familiarity with Bootstrap 4. If you need a refresher, check out the following tutorials:
As already mentioned, Material Kit is a free Bootstrap 4 UI Kit inspired by Google’s Material Design.
“Material Design is a design language that Google developed in 2014. Expanding on the "card" motifs that debuted in Google Now, Material Design uses more grid-based layouts, responsive animations and transitions, padding, and depth effects such as lighting and shadows.”
Created by Creative Tim, not only does it customize the default appearance of Bootstrap 4 components, but also it implements its own styles.
Apart from the free standard version, there’s also a premium variant called Material Kit Pro with even more features and capabilities. Happily enough, this UI Kit comes with well-organized documentation and three pre-built pages for speeding up the learning process.
1. Include the Required CSS & JS Libraries
For the purposes of this exercise, we’ll have to download and include a bunch of files in our pen.
First, we’ll import the required Material Kit files by following the instructions on this page. Keep in mind that we’ll only include the assets that we’re going to use. For example, our page won’t contain a range slider, so there’s no need to incorporate the noUISlider slider.
Next, we’ll import AOS.js, an easy-to-use library which will reveal our elements as we scroll down the page.
With all the above in mind, in the CSS editor of our pen we’ll include three files:
Similarly, the JavaScript editor will contain five files:
2. Set Out the Markup
With all the required stuff in place, let’s examine the page markup.
We’ll first define a header, five sections, a footer, and a back to top button. We’ll place the last four sections inside the main element. Later, as we’ll see, this wrapper element will receive a negative top margin, so its contents will overlap the bottom part of the first section.
Note: you might find this tutorial on collapsing margins interesting whilst we’re on the subject:
The page header will behave as a fixed positioned element and include only an external call-to-action button. Initially, its background will be transparent, but after 50px of scrolling it will become white:
Note that in a real page, inside the header we would have a navbar with links to the different sections.
4. Build the Hero Section
The hero section (or “banner section”) will contain a fullscreen background image and two headings. Plus, for readability reasons, we’ll create an empty image overlay by using the ::after pseudo-element:
Note: We’ll build the tabs/pills mainly by following Bootstrap’s markup instead of entirely using Material Kit’s markup. I think Bootstrap’s example is more complete and makes more sense with regards to accessibility.
Lastly, we’ll specify some simple styles for making the tab links bigger:
The third section will contain a heading and a Masonry-like grid of cards. Each card will have an image along with a caption that will be part of its overlay. To do this, we’re going to take advantage of the CSS Multi-column Layout.
On small screens (< 576px), all cards will be stacked:
On larger screens though, we’ll have a two column layout:
By default, Material Kit adds a purple color to the checkbox. In addition, the form elements receive an animated bottom purple border during the focus state. At this point, we’ll replace that color with the common rose (deep pink) one which is used throughout the page.
As long as a user scrolls to the bottom of the page, the button will appear. Then, if the user clicks on it, they will smoothly return to the top of the page.
The following JavaScript code handles the aforementioned functionality:
Note that the footer section doesn’t include anything special, so we’ll omit it for the sake of simplicity. You can check it on your own!
Great job, folks! Without putting too much effort, we managed to build a beautiful Material Design landing page.
But, let’s be honest, there’s still enough room for improvement, right!
7. Animate Elements on Scroll
Up to this point, our page looks great! But, let’s go one step further and bring life to specific elements as they come into view. There are a number of different ways (e.g. JS plugins, Intersection Observer API, etc.) to accomplish it. In actual fact, I’ve already covered that requirement in previous tutorials:
For this example, we’re going to use AOS.js, a straightforward JavaScript library that I really like.
As a first step, we’ll add the custom data-aos attribute to the target elements. The value of this attribute can receive different keywords such as fade-up, fade-down and flip-left which indicate the type of effect. In our case, the majority of elements (apart from the masonry elements) will appear with a small slide animation, thus we’ll give them data-aos="fade-up", like this:
Next, we’ll initialize the plugin and modify a few of its default options. Most importantly, we’ll set once: true. That will cause the animations to fire only once. Specifically, as you scroll down the page for the first time:
The value of this attribute will override the one passed within the configuration object (delay: 50). Its job is to sequentially animate the tab links/cities. By default, they would appear all at once because they have the same vertical position.
Lastly, as we navigate through the tabs, the page height will change. In such a scenario, we have to inform the plugin about this change and let it recalculate the positions of the target elements. Of course, this case makes sense only when the once option is set to true and animations happen all the time. Anyhow, if you ever need such behavior, here’s the required code:
$(’a[data-toggle="pill"]’).on("shown.bs.tab", e => {
AOS.refresh();
});
Conclusion
That’s all folks! Thanks for following along, I hope the journey was worth the effort and you gained some new knowledge. If you have ever built any pages with Material Kit, or any other Material Design framework, be sure to share them with us in the comments below.
What is your favorite Material Design framework?
Here’s a reminder of what we built:
As a last thought, just keep in mind that the best way to understand and perhaps extend this page is by checking the code via the developer tools. The same approach is recommended if you decide to dig into Material Kit’s pre-built pages.
As always, thanks a lot for reading!

5 Tips to Get the Most Out Of Your WordPress Directory Themes
The 20+ Wordpress directory themes will help you create a fully functional and stylish website in no time for your directory business. With all the features available in these themes, it can be easy to lose track of the main goal, which is to provide a website that helps serve your particular customer and help grow your business. Below are a list of five tips that you should keep in mind when customizing your theme.
1. Design for Your Specific Business
While this may seem obvious, you need to make sure you not only pick a theme that has the features that will suit your business, but you need to design the theme so you display all the information necessary for your directory business. Take the time to read the documentation for all of the themes that you are considering purchasing to make sure they offer what you need.
2. Integrate With WooCommerce
WooCommerce is the most powerful WordPress eCommerce plugin on the market today. This powerhouse eCommerce plugin can be customized to fit exactly what your business needs when it comes to accepting payments. The WooCommerce plugin is free to use and has many extensions that can be purchased on Themeforest if needed for your business.
3. Encourage Sharing
Many of the directory themes listed above have social media widgets that can be placed throughout your website. Again, our goal is to grow your directory business. Having the option to share a particular listing on your site or your entire website will encourage your customers to let their friends know about your directory business.
Take advantage of the social media sharing options within the directory themes.
4. Simplicity is Key
Just because the premium WordPress directory themes on Themeforest have myriad features that you can implement, does not mean that you should implement all of them.
Having too many features on your website can create a crowded webpage and make the site hard to navigate. Before you being creating your website write a list of all the functions that you think your customers will need and just implement those features.
5. Make the Theme SEO Friendly
When you are designing your theme, you need to ensure it is SEO friendly so you have the best possible chance of having a high ranking website on search engines. Here are a few points to consider when designing your theme:
add responsive images
add alt des
use lazy loading for images
include high search volume keywords on your webpages
ensure all the webpages are mobile-friendly

Go to Insert > Shape > Rectangle from the toolbar or menu (or press R). Create a shape the size of your artboard (282 x 150 px), make sure that it covers your entire artboard and that it stays selected.
Go to the Inspector panel and focus on the Style section. Uncheck the Borders checkbox to disable the border applied to your rectangle and keep the default Fill color.
Step 2
Go to Insert > Shape > Rectangle from the toolbar or menu (or press R). Create a 320 x 60 px shape, make sure that it stays selected and focus on the Inspector panel.
First, let’s use the X& Y input boxes to numerically place this new rectangle. Enter 47 in the X box and 730 in the Y box and your shape should move to the bottom side of the artboard, as shown in the following image.
Keep focusing on the Inspector panel, drag the Radius slider to 30 and then move to the Style section. Disable the existing Border and change the Fill color to #F9732E.
Step 3
Go to Insert > Text from the toolbar or menu (or press T). Click once on your artboard and focus on the Text section from the Inspector panel.
Select the Alma Mono
font, set the size to 20 and the color to white (#FFFFFF), and then simply type the "SIGN UP" piece of text. Place it as shown in the following image.
Step 4
Select your orange rounded rectangle along with the "SIGN UP" piece of text and click the Create Symbol from the toolbar, or choose Layer > Create Symbol in the menu. Name your symbol "Button Orange" and click OK. This will create a master symbol separate from your artboard. If you make a change to a master this will also show in any instances of that symbol in your document.
Step 5
Go to Insert > Shape > Rectangle from the toolbar or menu (or press R). Create a new 320 x 60 px shape, make sure that it stays selected and focus on the Inspector panel.
Again, use the X& Y input boxes to numerically position your selection. Enter the values shown in the following image and then drag the Radius slider to 30.
Keep focusing on the Inspector panel and move to the Style section. Disable the existing Border and change the Fill color to #4FD44E.
Step 6
Make sure that your green shape is still selected and save it as a symbol using the same Create Symbol button from your toolbar. Name this new symbol "Button Green" and click OK.
Step 7
Focus on your two master symbols as you’re about to create a simple nested symbol.
Go to Insert > Document > Button Green to add an instance the green symbol. Place it perfectly above the "Button Orange" master symbol and then click the Backward button from your toolbar to move the newly added symbol instance behind the text. In the end things should look like in the second image.
Step 8
Return to your artboard and notice that the bottom button is now green. This simply happened because of the changes that were made to its master symbol in the previous step.
Select this symbol instance and focus on the Overrides section from the Inspector panel. Open that Button Green drop-down menu and select No Symbol to remove the "Button Green" symbol override and return to the original instance of the symbol.
Step 9
Move to the top button, right click it and go to Replace > Document > Button Orange. Move to the Symbol section from the Inspector panel, enter "SIGN IN" in the text override box and keep the "Button Green" symbol override.

Customers like to know exactly what they’re getting before they make a purchase. Giving potential new subscribers a way to experience all of your website’s great membership features, first-hand and for free, can encourage them to make a purchase.
2. Create Multiple Subscription Levels
To get the maximum number of registrations, your membership plans need to appeal to a wide audience.
Unless you have a specific reason not to, it’s always a good idea to create multiple membership levels, for example you might offer Bronze, Silver and Gold subscriptions, or Monthly and Annual plans. For the best results, each membership should offer unique perks, and there should be a considerable difference in pricing.
If you’re trying to monetize your website, then multiple membership levels can also be a way to increase the average spend per member. If a new customer expresses an interest in a Silver subscription, then you have the opportunity to upsell them a Gold subscription.
Even after a user has purchased their subscription, there may still be upsell opportunities in the future. In these scenarios, it can often help to present the upsell as an exclusive bonus, for example if a subscriber's Silver membership is about to expire, then you could offer them a Gold membership at a discounted rate, as a special thank you for being such a loyal customer.
3. Keep in Constant Communication With Your Community
Today’s typical Internet user has a short attention span, so even after someone purchases a subscription you’ll need to work hard to keep them engaged with your website.
Most premium WordPress plugins have features that are designed to help you hold your audience’s attention, for example both ARMember and Youzer integrate with popular email marketing solutions Mailchimp and Mailster. You can encourage members to visit your website by sending them regular newsletters and email updates about all the new and exciting content they’re missing out on.
Other plugins, such as WooCommerce Membership and Ultimate Learning Pro allow you to “drip” content to your users. By carefully scheduling content in advance, you can ensure that something is always happening on your website, which will encourage members to get into the habit of regularly checking your site, in the hopes of discovering new content.
4. Create a Sense of Community
A successful online community needs to feel like a community, so you should try to give subscribers multiple ways to connect with one another.
As a minimum, visitors should be able to comment on your content and reply to comments left by other members, but you could also allow users to post their own content; view other people’s profiles; create and join groups, and exchange instant messages with other members of the community.
Many premium WordPress plugins also include features that are inspired by social media, for example UserPro allows members to “follow” each other and view logs of every member’s recent activity, including any new content or comments that this person has posted.
By fostering a sense of community, you can encourage members to build an emotional connection to this community, and by extension your website.

2. Don’t Underestimate Imagery!
The hotel industry is a competitive one. Of course, you want to wow users with your responsive design, but before they part with their money, they’re going to want to see what they’re paying for.

This is a template that screams luxury.
A simple name, and a simple navigation to match. With at least 3 demos, you can see the versatility offered by the team behind this theme—the Chalet theme, for example, includes booking info right at the top along with full-width imagery. This one also comes with the Revolution slider so imagery pleasingly scrolls to show users what could be in store for them if they book!
Released in March 2019, this WordPress hotel listing theme is a relative newcomer to the block. However, it’s already managed to collect an average rating of 5 out of 5 stars so it must be doing something right!

If you run a hostel or other low-cost hotel then this could be a great option for you. City Hostel | A Travel & Hotel Booking WordPress Theme
At the other end of the spectrum is this hospitality WordPress theme designed with luxury and elegance in mind. It comes with more than 7 built-in sliders which add to the high-end feel of the site, as imagery reveals itself in an aesthetically-pleasing way as the user scrolls. To give the user a hint as to what to expect from the full hotel experience, this theme is capable of supporting YouTube and self-hosted videos in the background so you can go deeper than imagery alone.
This online booking theme WordPress comes with 2 modern hotel demos—Xenia Resort and City Hotel. Like many of the templates, it’s translation ready so it can easily be translated to suit your market, plus it is compatible with the WPML plugin for multilingual sites. Overlapping imagery and text boxes give this a strong editorial feel, plus the option to add testimonials within a simple slider works well.
You just have to jump onto the reviews to see why customers enjoy this template—design quality and customer support are regularly praised! The online booking system accepts payment through PayPal, 2Checkout, Stripe, and Beanstream/Bambora. This template allows for paragraphs of text on the homepage, perfect if you really want to tell the story of your hotel or resort, something that could be especially useful if you’re looking to be considered for honeymoons or other special occasions.
The demo homepage shows how much is possible with this template—including blog capability, testimonials, integration with Google Maps, and of course, the essential online booking system. The developers behind Monalisa praise the platform for its high-speed performance, with a 96% PageSpeed score, plus it’s responsive and retina ready.
Starting small? This WordPress hotel booking theme is a good place to start! The hotel and rooms page template with a sliding panel is a strong feature and you can also introduce news and information in ‘sticky’ posts at the bottom of the page.
Keter-WP Theme for Small Hotels, Guesthouses, Rooms for Rent and B&B
A great option if you’re running a tour agency, Travelz opts for the booking system right at the top followed by content blocks which enable potential customers to explore the available tours. Icons coupled with short lines of copy also help to quickly explain to visitors about key offerings. You can provide information about popular hotels in areas covered by the tour company.
Taking a step back towards the luxury, Solaz is another solid option for your hotel booking WordPress theme. It comes with at least 4 unique homepage layouts plus loads of other page demos for you to explore. You can also see exactly how this template will look on mobile, with a handy demo video to show off the simple user experience. There are also more than 16 predefined color schemes for you to try, or you can go your own way entirely as there are unlimited color options.
With more than 7,000 sales, this is a popular contender on the list. Whether you’re setting up a tour, are looking for a WordPress hotel comparison theme, or have a single hotel to promote, there’s a demo to follow. The Single Hotel theme has a luxury feel but also includes the option for lots of fun sliders which help this template to stand out. The full-width header is eye-catching as imagery twists and turns when it comes into view.
Gutenberg optimized, this template will be super easy to navigate via drag and drop content blocks, meaning it’s a great option especially if you or your team and new to WordPress. There are 2 header options to choose form, 2 hotel landing pages, plus you can easily integrate email confirmations when a visitor books a hotel room.
Although the majority of WordPress developers now make responsive design a priority, the team behind Mojado even include it the template’s name! On the demo, you can click multiple device symbols, including tablet and mobile, to see how the theme adapts.
This theme uses the Awebooking plugin which enables customers to easily setup any reservations with managing rooms, reservations, and price. Plus, the video header is a distinctive feature.
Speaking of eye-catching headers, Hillter makes the most of animation in multiple sliders so new photography comes into focus in novel ways. The ability to incorporate testimonials onto hotel imagery is also a nice touch.
There’s an image gallery that can be categorized according to particular areas in the hotel, i.e. if a user is most interested to see the bar or the restaurant, they can quickly navigate their way to the most relevant imagery.
With at least 6 demos to choose from, you can pick a template most relevant to your hotel niche and then edit it to make it distinctly your own. The Nature Resort demo, for example, is simple in terms of design but the template allows for imagery to be peppered throughout.
FiveStar comes with more than 800 Google fonts, the option to style your mobile and desktop header differently, plus Contact Form 7—a plugin that enables people to get in touch.
Large image content blocks give you the opportunity to really sell your hotel facilities. Plus, the Hotel Booking Payment Requests extension enables owners of this template to send automatic payment reminders—it’s a great feature that saves time too. You can also customize email reminders to include specific personal information, another handy time-saving tactic.
This template strikes a great balance between imagery and copy—there’s plenty of space for photography, but also a small amount of copy to help provide wider context. It’s widely praised for its helpful customer support, plus has been built with SEO in mind to help give your site a greater chance to climb the Google search ranks.
Calluna has all the features you’d expect from a WordPress booking template, including a booking calendar, image gallery, plus testimonial functionality. It also offers 3 header styles, including the Transparent Overlay, Full Width, and Boxed, so you can decide which works best for your site.
This theme does well to offer customers the option to pull out key hotel facilities on the homepage, i.e. the restaurant and spa. With each feature, you can add content blocks like imagery and copy, and you can then direct users to a separate child page to add further information.
The theme was only introduced in 2019, but it’s already collected many five star reviews.
Morrison Hotel is a room rent WordPress theme with a cool, chic feel—it’s simple and modern but subtle image sliders and low-key galleries to show the rooms available.
It’s similar to LordCros in its use of separate content blocks to talk about important hotel facilities in greater detail. It’s also fully supported by PayPal.
The tones used in this theme’s demo—black and gold—contribute to its luxurious appeal. It’s also optimized for speed, offers unlimited sidebars, plus a live customizer so you can make any site changes as you go. The subtle movement of the header color disappearing as you scroll is a nice touch.
This is a seriously cool theme and would work perfectly for a boutique, fashion-forward hotel. There are at least 6 homepages to choose from, but the Fullscreen Showcase, in particular, really stands out.
Of course, with a site like this, you need to have the quality, high-res imagery to match as its success will depend on the selected photography. The navigation in the top right is small so as to not distract from the site’s overall look and feel.

WordPress features a built-in menu management system that makes it easy to add menus to your website. However, as you add more and more pages, posts and other miscellaneous content, it may become impossible to include every destination in your standard menu bar.
In these scenarios, you can provide easy access to every section of your website without cluttering the menu bar, by replacing the standard horizontal menu bar with a dropdown menu.
In this quick tip, I’ll share two easy ways that you can transform any standard WordPress menu into a dropdown menu.
Best WordPress Navigation Plugins
Before we get started, I want to mention that over seven thousand of the best WordPress plugins ever created on CodeCanyon. With a cheap one time payment, you can purchase these high-quality WordPress plugins for navigation or other need.
Create at Least One Standard WordPress Menu
You can add dropdown functionality to any WordPress menu.
If you don’t have a standard menu that you want to convert into a dropdown menu, then you’ll need to create one:
Log into your WordPress account, if you haven’t already. In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Appearance > Menus, then click the Create a new menu button. Give your menu a name, and then select Create new menu.
Note that the menu’s name won’t appear anywhere on your website, so this is solely for your reference. The Add menu items section lists all the Pages, Posts, Custom Links, Categories, and Formats that you can add to your menu. Click any section to see all the available items within this category. When you find an item that you want to add to your menu, select its accompanying checkbox.
When you’re happy with your selection, click Add to menu. All of these items will now be added to your menu.
At this point you’ve created a standard WordPress menu; your next task is adding the dropdown functionality.
Convert Any WordPress Menu Into a Dropdown Menu
To turn a regular menu into a dropdown menu, you’ll need to use drag and drop to create “parent” items, which will displayed as part of the main menu, and “child” items which will appear as part of their parent’s dropdown.
For example, in the following screenshot Settings is the parent and Password Reset and Logout are its children.
This gives me the following dropdown:
You can separate your menu items into parents and children in the Menu structure area.
First, grab any item that want to turn into a child. Drag the child onto the parent item, but don’t release your mouse just yet. Move your mouse slightly to the right, so it’s embedded below the parent. Release your mouse, and the menu item should become a child of the parent item.
When you’re happy with how your dropdown menu is organized, click Save Menu.
Manage Locations: Displaying Your Menu
Now we need to place this dropdown menu on our website, so give the Manage Locations tab a click.
Depending on how your site is set up, you may have different options for positioning your menu. However, if you want your menu to appear as part of your website’s header then you’ll typically need to select Top Menu, Primary Menu or Primary.
When you’re happy with your selection, click Save Changes. Your dropdown menu should now be displayed along the top of your website.
Building Dropdown Menus With Theme Customizer
Alternatively, you can create dropdown menus using WordPress’ live preview and customizer feature:
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Appearance > Menus.
Give the Manage with Live Preview button a click. This takes you to an area of Theme Customizer where you can build a standard WordPress menu, by giving the Create New Menu button a click. Give your menu a name, and then click Next.
Click Add items and select every item that you want to display as part of your menu. To turn a standard menu item into a child menu item, drag it onto the item you want to use as its parent. Before releasing your mouse, drag the child item a little to the right, and then release. This item should now be transformed into a child of the parent item, and will appear as part of its dropdown menu.
As you divide your menu into parents and children, your changes will be automatically reflected in the live preview. Rinse and repeat until you’re happy with how your dropdown menu is configured.
Specify where your new dropdown menu should appear, by selecting one of the Menu Location checkboxes. Note that the available options will vary, depending on the WordPress theme you’re currently using. When you’re happy with how your dropdown menu is configured, click Publish.
Your new dropdown menu should now appear on your website.
Conclusion
In this quick tip, I showed you how to create a standard WordPress menu, and then convert that menu into a dropdown menu. By opting for dropdown menus, you can ensure your website is easy to navigate, without cluttering the menu bar.

12 Best WordPress Slider & Carousel Plugins (From CodeCanyon for 2020)
The single most downloaded slider at CodeCanyon, RoyalSlider for WordPress is packed with irresistible features. Used by companies as diverse as Coca Cola, Ralph Lauren, and Land Rover, this plugin does just about everything you could possibly want from a slider.
The most appealing feature is the native HTML5 fullscreen support. Perfect for showing high-resolution photography!
Other standout features include:
multiple sliders per page are allowed, even with different skins
touch swipe navigation support
responsive design
vertical or horizontal thumbnails, bullets, or tabs for navigation
RoyalSlider will definitely wow your visitors with its clean design and professional functionality.
User frctech says:
"I have used RoyalSlider since 2011. It is reliable, well-designed, well-maintained, and well-supported. On the handful of occasions that I've needed support, answers have been prompt (freaky fast even), intelligent (no crappy canned responses), and have solved my issue."
Slider Pro provides a clean and intuitive user interface in the admin area, with a smooth navigation experience for the end users.
Slider Pro avoids unnecessary fanciness, which many times is an obstacle for end users in getting the information they need, and instead focuses on simplicity and performance, while still providing a wide range of customisation possibilities.
My favourite feature is the deep linking, where each slide change will update the URL in the browser's navigation bar with the appropriate URL hash. That means users can copy and share links directly to individual slides!
Standout features include:
optimised image loading
easy customisation
smooth animations
multiple layouts
Slider Pro, as the name suggests, is the professional solution you need.
User LWWCRHI says:
"David was excellent in helping me get my slider to work with special effects. This is not your average slider and can do a lot more. Feature rich and support is really great giving it a 5 star rating."
The Logos Showcase plugin is specifically created for users who want to make a grid of images with external or internal links or need to display a list of clients' or sponsors' logos.
The standout feature with Logos Showcase is the ability to display logos in a grayscale version, with the option to display the original colours by hovering if desired.
Standout features include:
choice of three different ways to display images
control of transition speed and auto-scroll is enabled
control of default size of logo images
option to set URLs to each logo which can open on the same page or in a new page
Logos Showcase is the slider to choose if your priority is to display logos and lists most effectively.
User cross5 says:
"More than incredible customer support. The plugin is really easy to use, all needed features are available. Highly recommended!"
All Around, as the name suggests, is a really well-rounded slider. It gives you a clean, responsive design, a number of predefined styling options, and support for swipe gestures. Use one of the six layouts or customise the plugin manually as needed.
Standout features include:
six premade styles
support for videos
vertical or horizontal sliders
supports multiple sliders on one page
autoplay mode
The All Around slider isn't all-around by name only. If this is your first WordPress slider and carousel plugin, it just might also be the last one you'll ever need.
This is a display of what the carousel from the Super Bundle WordPress plugin could create.
One of the best slider plugins for WordPress, Super Bundle is a collection of terrific elements, settings, and tools that are designed to take your WPBakery Page Builder site to the next level. It lets you turn any content into a carousel, add a video lightbox, animate text, etc.

parallax background and video background options
over 70 customisable, high-quality SVG row separator designs
13 entrance animations and 14 exit animations
6 unique text effects
video or image thumbnails that when clicked open a large video lightbox popup
What's great about Super Bundle is that apart from creating great carousels, it allows you to add a ton of other cool features to your WordPress site. A great multipurpose plugin.
User alienflaky says:
"There are more than one reason I gave this product 5 stars. From an awesome product to a solid back-end support, it is definitely a must if you want to customize your WordPress beyond a purchased theme."
Global Gallery is a WordPress image slider that helps you to create awesome galleries from a variety of image sources, including Flickr, Facebook or other social media platforms, WordPress custom elements, and any RSS feed. The plugin offers four gallery layouts and also includes both a responsive image slider and a full-featured carousel.
Standout features include:
four gallery layouts
drag-and-drop gallery builder
image tags filter
images slider with fixed or responsive sizing
images carousel with multi-column layouts
With its fast, one-click setup, the Global Gallery plugin will help you create filterable, fully responsive and adaptive galleries on your website in no time.
User mkknop says:
"I am so happy with getting Global Gallery! It is really easy to set up and especially together with the Overlay Manager add-on, I was getting the 'really slow zoom-in' effect I was looking for. Also notable: The perfect customer support from the author, with same-day feedback / solutions. Very recommendable and worth the price."
If you’re in the market for a highly versatile WordPress image carousel, Carousel Anything is for you. With Carousel Anything, you can create carousels for any of your content: blog posts, image sliders, video showcases, testimonials, team members, and more. The plugin comes with two designs: one displays your posts in a simple and clean layout, while the other offers a few more design features.
Standout features include:
works great with touch devices
create carousels from your post types
lightweight
works with any theme
This WordPress carousel slider plugin gives you one of the easiest and quickest ways to create carousels for your website.
User Pixelschiebr says:
"I really love this add on. I am not even halfway through all the ways I could use it. But so far I use it for Sliders on news pages as well as video Galleries on my pages. It works very well with Visual Composer and I love that I can have all the settings for background colors etc. Carousel Anything is way simpler and gives me all the options that I need."
Progress Map is unique among the WordPress plugins listed here in that it combines carousel slider features with a Google Maps feature. The plugin’s aim is to help users create WordPress sites that provide listings for hotels, real estate, restaurants, job posts, etc.
With this plugin, you can plot your listings on Google Maps using markers and then feature the same listings in photos on a carousel—with connections between them! When an item is selected on the carousel, its location on the map is indicated. Likewise, when the marker on the map is clicked, it activates the image carousel.
Standout features include:
carousel can be positioned to the right, to the left, over or under the map
provides clustered map markers for a map with a large number of locations
carousel items are fully resizable and fully customisable
connect the plugin with any custom post type
If you’re looking for a visually powerful way to display a number of different locations on a map using an image carousel, the Progress Map plugin is a great solution.
User GiulioNF says:
"Insane plugin! Everything you need using maps and front-end, Really easy to customize as well!"

Getting the Most Out of the WordPress Slider & Carousel Plugins
While the premium WordPress Slider & Carousel available on CodeCanyon have all you need to create a professional-looking display for your media, there are a few tips that you will want to consider to ensure you are getting the most out of these valuable plugins.
1. Placement Is Key
In most cases, you will want to display your slider or carousel at the top of your webpage. One of the goals of these sliders and carousels is to draw the attention of your audience, and having them anywhere but the top of your webpage will make them seem less important.
Slider Pro display of its slider at the top of a web page
2. Optimize for Mobile
Much of today's website browsing is done on mobile phones. All the premium plugins have responsive designs that can be adjusted to look great on mobile devices. Make sure you spend the time adjusting these mobile view settings to give these viewers the best experience possible. In addition to optimizing your slider for mobile devices, make sure to optimize it for multiple screen sizes as well.
Slider Pro gives the tools necessary to ensure that their slider is responsive on all screen sizes.
3. Use High-Quality Images and Videos
No matter how visually appealing your slider and carousel is, if the actual images and videos aren't of high quality, you will stand little chance of gaining the attention of your website visitors. Make sure you use the highest quality images and videos available.

What to Look for in an Automotive WordPress Theme?
There are several factors you should pay attention to when choosing an automotive theme:
1. Be Sure the Theme You’re Picking Fits Your Niche
Make sure the theme you’re picking is well fitted to your niche. A car rental theme won’t suit an auto mechanic’s website so well, therefore picking a theme that has relevant design elements and appropriate functionality to the sector you’re operating in is important
2. Look for Distinctive Design Characteristics and Features
In this day and age, when there are swathes of stunning themes available, you should not limit yourself in the style and functionality you want to use on your website. Long gone is the time where there was a need to use a generic magazine theme for an automotive magazine because the market was lacking such specific themes. Profit from what’s available.
3. Don’t Go For the Most Supercharged Theme Just For the Sake Of It
With the amount of themes available nowadays and the great number of details designers and developers put into creating them, it’s easy to be tempted to just go for the most complex design. It is important, however, to go for the design that fits you better (even if that means fewer features or a couple less available integrations). Less is more.

How to Add a Contact Form To Your Website Using Quform
To help show you just how easy it is to create a form with one of the premium form plugins available, we are going to go over how to create a simple contact form with the Quform form WordPress plugin.
1Creating the Form
Once the plugin is installed, head on over to WP dashboard > Quform > Add New. We will then title our form "Contact Form." This will create our contact form and take use to the form editor
2. Adding Content to the Form
Once we are in the editor, we will want to add three different fields to the form. We will add the first name, last name, and text area. These fields will allow us to capture all the information we need from the website user. First, we will add in the first and last names to the form by clicking on the person icon in the Quform editor. This will automatically insert the first and last name fields in our form.
Lastly, we will add the text field to the form so the user can insert a message to us. Click on the left align paragraph icon in the Quform editor to add this to your form. Next, click on the text area tab named Untitled on the left-hand side of the Quform editor and type in "Message." This will change the text in the form to say "Message" instead of "Untitled."
3. Adding the Form to Your Website
Now that we have created the form, it is time to add it to your website. At the top of the form editor, you will see a shortcode.
Copy this shortcode and create a new page or post. Paste this shortcode into the location of the page that you want this form to be on and you are all set. You can view this page or post and see that the contact form was added.

Where Can You Find eCommerce Themes?
One of the best places to find a high-quality eCommerce theme are marketplaces such as ThemeForest. Each of them has its own set of benefits and use cases.
Why ThemeForest?
ThemeForest, on the other hand, allows you to purchase a single item for a fixed price. You pay the price of the item and you can download your file, whether that’s a theme, a plugin, a logo template or something else. It’s a great choice for busy entrepreneurs who just need to buy an item once to satisfy their immediate need.
Update Your Store’s Design With a Brand-New WordPress eCommerce Theme
If you’re going to take your website to the next level, then you need to master the world of WordPress plugins, and in this tutorial I’ll show you how!
By the end of this article, you’ll know how to install tens of thousands of free plugins using WordPress’s built-in plugin directory, how to upload premium plugins to your account, and even how to manually install plugins to wp-content using an FTP client—just in case your WordPress hosting provider’s file restrictions make it impossible to install plugins any other way.
What Are WordPress Plugins, Anyway?
A WordPress plugin is a ready-made collection of code that you add to your website in order to perform a task, add a feature, or improve your site’s overall performance. For example, the popular Yoast plugin is designed to boost Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Akismet Anti-Spam protects against spammers, and W3 Total Cache can improve WordPress’s performance by adding browser, page, object, and database caching.
While lots of WordPress plugins are safe and reliable and can add real value to your site, they’re still third-party software, so you should always download your plugins from a reputable source.
For free plugins, the official WordPress plugin directory should be your go-to source, and it can even be accessed directly from the WordPress user interface.
If you’re purchasing a premium plugin from a marketplace or directly from the developer's website, then you should always check whether users have experienced any problems with this plugin. This research might involve reading user reviews and comments, searching for mentions of the plugin on social media, or even performing a quick Google search to see whether the plug is mentioned on any blogs or third-party websites.
Are You Using WordPress.com?
Before we start, it’s important to note that if you’re using WordPress.com then you cannot install WordPress plugins unless you upgrade to a business plan.
If you downloaded the WordPress software from WordPress.org and installed it on your own server, then you can install plugins without purchasing any additional plans.
Install a Plugin Using WordPress Plugin Search
The easiest way to install a free WordPress plugin is via the WordPress plugin directory, which at the time of writing provided easy access to almost 55,000 plugins. The downside is that this directory doesn’t contain any premium content, so if you’re interested in premium plugins then you’ll need to look elsewhere.
To install a plugin via this directory, you’ll need to search for the name of the plugin in question. If you don’t already have a specific plugin in mind, then you may find it easier to explore the WordPress plugin directory in your web browser, until you find the plugin that’s right for you.
To install your chosen plugin via the WordPress plugin directory:
Log in to your WordPress account.
In WordPress’s left-hand menu, select Plugins > Add New.
Search for the name of the plugin that you want to install. When your chosen plugin appears, click the Install Now button.
When prompted, select Activate.
Depending on your chosen plugin, you may need to configure some settings before you can start using it. The location of a plugin’s settings may vary, but you can often locate them by selecting the plugin’s name from WordPress’s left-hand menu.
You may also be able to edit your plugin's settings by selecting Plugins > Installed Plugins from WordPress's left-hand menu.
Uploading a Plugin to Your WordPress Website
The WordPress plugin directory is restricted to free plugins, but you can find plenty of premium plugins on dedicated WordPress marketplaces such as CodeCanyon, in premium plugin repositories, or by purchasing a plugin directly from the developer’s website.
Once you’ve chosen and purchased your premium plugin, it’s time to upload it to your WordPress account:
Download your chosen plugin from its source, which could be a marketplace, plugin repository, or a third-party website. This plugin should download to your computer as a ZIP file.
Head over to your WordPress account and select Plugins > Add New from the left-hand menu.
Select the Upload Plugin button.
Scroll to the If you have a plugin in a .zip format section, and select Choose file.
Select the ZIP file that you just downloaded.
Click Install Now, and the plugin will be uploaded to your WordPress account.
After a few moments, you should see a Plugin installed successfully message; select its accompanying Activate Plugin button.
Once again, you may need to configure this plugin before you can use it. You’ll typically find a plugin’s settings by selecting its name in WordPress’s left-hand menu and then looking for a dedicated Settings menu.
When you pay for a WordPress plugin, you’ll often get access to online documentation, FAQs, knowledge bases, and sometimes even live tech support, so if you’re struggling to configure your plugin then it’s always worth checking the developer’s website to see what resources are available.
How to Install a Plugin to wp-content Using FTP
Some WordPress hosting providers implement file restrictions that prevent you from installing premium plugins via the Plugins > Add New menu.
If this is the case with your website, then you can install plugins manually using an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client, which is a desktop application that connects your computer to your WordPress hosting account.
This method requires your FTP username and password, which you should have received in an email when you signed up for your web hosting account. If you’re using cPanel, then this information is also available via the cPanel dashboard. If you cannot locate your FTP username and password, then you should contact your WordPress hosting provider, as they should be able to help.
To upload a plugin using FTP, first download the plugin’s source file, which will be in ZIP format. Unzip the file on your computer, which should create a new folder with the same name as the original ZIP; this is the file you’ll need to manually upload to your WordPress account.
Now launch your FTP client and enter your username, password, and host—which is typically your website’s URL—and click the Connect button. Navigate to the wp-content folder within your WordPress installation. This directory typically contains several items, including a plugin directory. The location of this folder tends to vary between hosting providers, so you may need to refer to your hosting provider’s documentation, or contact your provider directly for more information.
Open the /wp-content/plugins/ directory and upload your unzipped plugin to that directory. To verify that your plugin has been uploaded successfully, switch back to your WordPress account and navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins. Your new plugin should now be listed in this section.
Give the plugin’s Activate link a click.
As with all the previous methods, you may need to configure your plugin before you can use it, so spend some time exploring the plugin’s various settings; you can typically find a plugin’s settings by selecting its name in WordPress’s left-hand menu.
If your new plugin isn’t appearing in WordPress's Plugins > Installed Plugins section, then:
Switch back to your FTP client.
Navigate to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Delete all the files you just uploaded, and then try uploading the plugin again.
How to Remove a Plugin From Your WordPress Website
At some point, you may decide that you no longer want to use a particular plugin.
Plugins are third-party software, so there’s always a chance that one plugin may clash with another, or an outdated plugin may even become incompatible with a newer version of WordPress. Or perhaps you got carried away installing plugins and desperately need to de-clutter your WordPress account.
If there’s a chance you may need a plugin again, then you can simply deactivate it, but if you want to permanently remove a plugin then you should deactivate and then delete it.
To deactivate a plugin:
Select Plugins > Installed Plugins from WordPress’s left-hand menu.
Find the plugin in question, and select its accompanying Deactivate link.
This plugin will now be deactivated. To reinstate the plugin, simply repeat the above steps but this time select the Activate link.
If you want to permanently delete a plugin, then deactivate it using the above steps. At this point you’ll gain access to a new Delete link; give it a click and the plugin in question will be gone forever.

In today’s tutorial, we’ll learn how to build a simple, yet fully functional weather app with Vanilla JavaScript. We have a lot of interesting things to cover, so grab a cup of coffee and let’s get started!
What We’ll be Building
Here’s an introductory video which demonstrates the functionality of the app that we’re going to create:
Note: This tutorial assumes that you’re familiar with AJAX, an essential front-end technique. If you’re just beginning, check out this series.
1. Scaffolding the App
Before start creating our app, there are a few things that we have to take into consideration.
Find a Weather API
First things first, we have to find a provider that will let us incorporate its weather data into our app. Luckily enough, there are several different providers out there for developing weather apps. Most of them include a free package along with premium subscriptions that scale depending on the services/features.
In our case, we’re going to use OpenWeatherMap, one of the most popular free choices. To take advantage of its capabilities, first, we have to sign up for an API key:
This service comes with different packages. As you can see from the visualization below, the starter (free) one allows 60 calls per minute which suits our needs:
So before continuing, please make sure that you’ve registered for an API key. Later, we’ll include that key in our script.
Keep in mind that the best way to test the app is by forking the Codepen demo and including your own key. If we all share the same key, the app will probably not work due to API call limits.
Find Weather Icons
Next, for the purposes of this tutorial, we’re going to need a bunch of weather icons. It’s worth noting that OpenWeatherMap comes with its own icon set and we’ll take a look at those. However, we’ll go one step further and use some custom ones.
The custom weather icons we’re going to use from Envato Elements
2. Define the Page Markup
We’ll define two sections.
The first section will include a heading, a search form, and an empty span element. This element will become visible with an appropriate message under certain conditions. Specifically, if there isn’t any weather data available for a requested city or the data for this city are already known.
The second section will include a list of cities. By default, it won’t contain any cities. But, as we start searching for the weather for a specific city, if weather data is available, a corresponding list item (city) will be appended to the unordered list.
Here’s the initial page markup:
<section class="top-banner"><div class="container"><h1 class="heading">Simple Weather App</h1><form><input type="text" placeholder="Search for a city" autofocus><button type="submit">SUBMIT</button><span class="msg"></span></form></div></section><section class="ajax-section"><div class="container"><ul class="cities"></ul></div></section>
Note: In our Codepen demo, the autofocus attribute of the search field won’t work. In fact, it’ll throw the following error which you can see if you open your browser console:
However, if you run this app locally (not as a Codepen project), this issue won’t exist.
And here’s the markup associated with a list item that we’ll generate dynamically through JavaScript:
We’ll use CSS Grid to lay out the list items. Remember that each list item will represent a city. Their width will depend on the screen size.
On large screens (>1000px) we’ll have a four column layout.
Then on medium screens (>700px and ≤1000px) a three column layout, on small screens (>500px and ≤700px) a two column layout, and finally on extra small screens (≤500px) all elements will be stacked.
Each column will look like a card with a bottom shadow that will be added via the ::after pseudo-element.
Inside the card, we’ll place weather information about the requested city. These will come from our request, apart from the icons. Those icons, which as mentioned above are grabbed from Envato Elements, will show the current weather condition of this city and match the equivalent OpenWeatherMap icons.
Below you can see a part of the CSS needed for this layout:
At this point, we’re ready to build the core functionality of our app. Let’s do it!
On Form Submission
Each time a user submits the form by pressing the Enter key or the Submit button, we’ll do two things:
Stop the form from submitting, hence prevent reloading the page.
Grab the value which is contained in the search field.
Here’s the starting code:
const form = document.querySelector(".top-banner form");
form.addEventListener("submit", e => {
e.preventDefault();
const inputVal = input.value;
});
Next, we’ll check to see whether there are list items (cities) inside the second section.
Perform an AJAX Request
We’ll start with the assumption that the list is empty. That said, it has never run any AJAX request in the past. In such a case, we’ll execute a request to the OpenWeatherMap API and pass the following parameters:
The city name (e.g. athens) or the comma-separated city name along with the country code (e.g. athens,gr) which will be the value of the search field
The API key. Again, you should use your own key to avoid unexpected errors due to API call limits.
The unit of temperature for the requested city. In our case, we’ll go with Celcius.
With all the above in mind, by following the API documentation, our request URL should look something like this:
To perform the AJAX request, we have a lot of options. We can use the plain old XMLHttpRequest API, the newer Fetch API, or even a JavaScript library like jQuery and Axios. For this example, we’ll go with the Fetch API.
To grab the desired data, we have to do the following things:
Pass the URL we want to access to the fetch() method.
This method will return a Promise containing the response (a Response object). But this won’t be the actual response, just an HTTP response. To grab the response data in the desired JSON format (this is the default data format of OpenWeatherMap), we’ll use Response object’s json() method.
This method will return another Promise. When it’s fulfilled, the data will be available for manipulation.
If for some reason the request is unsuccessful, a corresponding message will appear on the screen.
So, our AJAX request would look something like this:
...
fetch(url)
.then(response => response.json())
.then(data => {
// do stuff with the data
})
.catch(() => {
msg.textContent = "Please search for a valid city 😩";
});
Tip: Instead of chaining then()s, we could have used the newer and more readable async/await approach for the AJAX request.
Here’s an example of the response data:
Build the List Item Component
With the AJAX request in place, each time we type a city in the search field, the API will return its weather data, if they are available. Our job now is to collect only the data that we need, then create the associated list item and, lastly, append it to the unordered list.
If you look again at the response visualization above, you’ll notice that the API returns an icon code (e.g. "50d") which holds the current weather condition for the target city. Based on this code, we’re able to construct the icon URL and display it in the card via the img tag.
Inside the .city-name element of each list item, we’ll append the data-name attribute with value the cityName,countryCode (e.g. madrid,es). Later we’ll use this value to prevent duplicate requests.
Reset Things
Lastly, after the AJAX request, we’ll clear the content of the .msg element, the value of the search field, and give focus to that field as well:
Great job, folks! We’ve just created the first version of our app. By the time you put your own API key and search for a city, you should see a card layout similar to that one:
Here’s the related Codepen demo:
Add Custom Icons
Let’s now customize a little bit the look and feel of our app. We’ll replace the default OpenWeatherMap PNG icons with the SVGs we downloaded earlier from Envato Elements.
To do this, I’ve uploaded all the new icons to Codepen (via the Asset Manager as I’m a PRO member) and changed their names, so they will match the names and the weather conditions of the original icons, like this:
Then, in the code, we only have to change the icon path:
There’s still one thing we have to fix. So far, as we perform a successful AJAX request, a list item is created. That said, the list can contain multiple identical list items which refer to the same city, like so:
That’s bad user experience, so let’s make sure that only a single request is triggered for a specific city.
But before that, there’s another thing for taking into consideration. The same city name can exist in more than one country. For example, if we search for “Athens” in the OpenWeatherMap’s search finder, we’ll see these results:
With all the above in mind, we’ll write some code which will ensure that only a single request per city, per country will be executed:
...
//1
const listItems = list.querySelectorAll(".ajax-section .city");
const listItemsArray = Array.from(listItems);
if (listItemsArray.length > 0) {
//2
const filteredArray = listItemsArray.filter(el => {
let content = "";
//athens,gr
if (inputVal.includes(",")) {
//athens,grrrrrr->invalid country code, so we keep only the first part of inputVal
if (inputVal.split(",")[1].length > 2) {
inputVal = inputVal.split(",")[0];
content = el.querySelector(".city-name span").textContent.toLowerCase();
} else {
content = el.querySelector(".city-name").dataset.name.toLowerCase();
}
} else {
//athens
content = el.querySelector(".city-name span").textContent.toLowerCase();
}
return content == inputVal.toLowerCase();
});
//3
if (filteredArray.length > 0) {
msg.textContent = `You already know the weather for ${
filteredArray[0].querySelector(".city-name span").textContent
} ...otherwise be more specific by providing the country code as well 😉`;
form.reset();
input.focus();
return;
}
}
Let me explain what actions happen here:
Again during the submit handler, before making an AJAX request, we check to see whether the unordered list is empty or not. If it isn’t empty, that means at least one successful AJAX request has already been executed.
Next, we check to see if there’s a list item who’s the city name or the value of its data-name attribute are equal to the search field’s value.
If so, that means the user already knows the weather for this city, so there’s no need to perform another AJAX request. As the following actions, we’ll show them a related message, clear the value of the search field and give it focus.
Note #1: As I’ve noticed, in case you search for a city with at most two-letters which don’t represent any country code (e.g. athens,aa), the API won’t return anything. On the other hand, if you search for a city along with at least three-letters which also don’t represent any country code (e.g. athens,aaaa), the API will ignore the part after the comma and return all cities named as the first part (e.g. athens).
Note #2: For this exercise, we won’t also cover the special case where a country contains more than one city with the same name (e.g. Athens in USA). So, for example, if a user searches for “athens,us” only one city will appear in the screen and not more. In order to cover the ideal scenario, users should somehow know the city ID (e.g. perhaps make them available as a dropdown) and search based on that instead of searching based on its name.
Excellent job, folks! We’ve just built our app. Let’s take a look:
Conclusion
And we’re done! This really was quite a long journey, but I hope that you enjoyed it and that it has helped enhance your front-end skills.
Once again, don’t forget to put your own key for live app testing!
As a reminder, let’s look again at how the app works:
As always, thanks a lot for reading!
Next Steps
There are so many things that you can do to extend the functionality of this app. Here are some thoughts:
Use geolocation to grab the user’s location, and then perform an AJAX request for retrieving weather data for their closest cities.
Use localStorage to persist the data above or even a real-time database like Firebase.
Use a charting library like Highcharts.js for building a meteogram that will give a weather forecast. If you do so, this tutorial might help.
Use an image API like Flickr API to present as a gallery lightbox a list of photos for each city.
If there’s anything else that you might want to see as an app extension, let me know in the comments below!
So you’ve spent days, weeks or perhaps even months perfecting your WordPress website, and you’re excited to finally publish it—and then you notice the Proudly Powered By WordPress disclaimer in your website’s footer.
WordPress may be one of the world’s most popular content management systems, but chances are you’ll want people to view your website as a unique entity, and not “just another” WordPress website. If you’re running a business, then you may even be worried that crediting another organization will make your business seem less professional.
While it’s possible to remove the Powered By WordPress footer, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, as this process can vary depending on the WordPress theme you’re currently using.
In this quick tip, I’ll be sharing four ways that you can remove the WordPress copyright footer. I’ll start with the quickest and easiest method, before moving on to more obscure fixes—including one that you should only ever use as a last resort.
Is It Legal to Remove the WordPress Copyright Footer?
If you’re concerned about the legal ramifications of deleting the WordPress disclaimer, then don’t worry: WordPress is released under the GNU General Public License (GNU). This free software license gives you the legal right to run, share, redistribute, and even modify WordPress—and that includes modifying its footer text.
1. Remove “Powered by WordPress” Using Theme Customizer
First, you should check whether it’s possible to disable the footer credits via WordPress’s Theme Customizer:
In WordPress’s left-hand menu, select Appearance > Customize.
Select Footer > Bottom bar.
Find the Disable Footer Credits checkbox if one appears and click it.
Save your changes by clicking Publish.
If the Theme Customizer doesn’t feature a Disable Footer Credits checkbox, then look for any sections labelled Footer settings, Copyright area, or Copyright text, as these often contain settings that you can use to edit the footer or even disable it entirely.
2. Consider Switching to a Different WordPress Theme
If you cannot edit your footer in the Theme Customizer, then it may be easier to switch to a different theme, since a large number of WordPress themes do allow you to remove the Powered by WordPress footnote using the Theme Customizer.
If you’ve invested a significant amount of time into perfecting your website, then you may not be too eager to rip out your current theme, but the rest of the techniques covered in this article require you to touch your site’s code, which is far riskier than switching to a different theme.
If you do decide to change your website’s theme:
Select Appearance > Themes from WordPress’s left-hand menu.
Give the Add New Theme button a click, and browse through all the available themes.
When you find a theme that you want to test, click Live Preview.
If you’re happy with the results, then click Activate & Publish.
Now, open the Theme Customizer from Appearance > Customize and check whether it’s possible to edit your website’s footer text.
3. Modify Your Theme’s footer.php File
Your theme’s footer.php file contains all the information needed to display your website’s footer, including the Powered By WordPress credit.
You can often remove this credit by deleting the appropriate section of code from the footer.php file. Note that this method typically requires some Internet research, as the code you need to remove will vary depending on your theme.
To open the footer.php file for editing, select Appearance > Theme Editor from the WordPress admin menu. Open the Select theme to edit dropdown and select the theme that you’re currently using. If you’re unsure, then select Appearance > Themes from WordPress’s left-hand menu; your current theme will be labelled as Active.
Towards the right-hand side of the screen, you should see a Theme Files section; select the footer.php file.
Locate the footer code, and delete it. Unfortunately, the footer code can vary dramatically depending on which theme you’re using, so you may need to consult Google in order to pinpoint the line(s) of code that control your website’s footer. For example, since I’m using the Twenty Seventeen theme, I need to remove the following:
4. Remove the "Powered by WordPress" Footer Using CSS
If all the above methods fail, then you can hide the footer credits by adding some CSS via the Theme Customizer—but there’s a catch. Spammers commonly use this technique to bury links inside their websites, in the hopes of artificially boosting that website’s Google rankings.
If you hide your website’s footer using CSS, then there’s a chance your site may get flagged as spam, which will damage its search engine rankings. However, if you’re all out of options, or you’re developing a private website where SEO (Search Engine Optimization) isn’t a major concern, then this may be a viable option.
To hide your website’s footer using CSS:
In WordPress’s left-hand menu, select Appearance > Customize.
Select Additional CSS.
Copy/paste the following code into the subsequent text field:
.site-info { display: none; }
Save your changes by clicking Publish.
Conclusion
In this quick tip, I shared four possible ways that you can remove the WordPress disclaimer from your website’s footer. By changing, hiding, or deleting this text, or even disabling your website’s footer entirely, you can ensure that no-one will be able to tell that your website is proudly powered by WordPress.

Here are a few of the best-selling and up-and-coming WordPress themes available on ThemeForest for 2020.
Is it time to say goodbye to your WordPress website?
Maybe it’s time for a fresh start, or perhaps you want to distance yourself from the kind of content you used to create—whatever your reasons, you probably won’t want your abandoned website hanging around on the Internet forever.
In this article, I’ll show you how to permanently delete your WordPress website, regardless of whether you created your site via WordPress.com or WordPress.org. And, if you got carried away and created multiple WordPress.com websites, then I’ll also be showing you how to delete all of these sites simultaneously, by cancelling your WordPress account.
WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: What’s the Difference?
The process for deleting your website will differ depending on whether it’s a WordPress.com or a WordPress.org site, so let’s start by clarifying the differences between the two:
WordPress.org, sometimes referred to as self-hosted WordPress, is where you download the free WordPress software and install it on your own server. With a WordPress.org website, you’re solely responsible for hosting and maintenance.
WordPress.com takes care of the hosting for you. Rather than downloading and installing the WordPress software, simply head over to WordPress.com, click Get started, complete a few forms, and WordPress.com will create your website for you.
The Internet Is Forever
In this article, I’ll show you how to delete your website, so it no longer appears at its URL or appears in Google search results. However, if your website has been archived by third parties then there’s a chance your content will still be accessible via these third-party services.
Deleting your website will make it less accessible, but there’s no guarantee that a determined third party won’t be able to recover some or all of your deleted content.
How Do I Close My WordPress.com Account?
Are you performing some admin and want to delete all the accounts that you no longer use? Or perhaps you want to delete your existing WordPress account, so you can re-register and start again from scratch?
When you close your account, WordPress will also delete all the websites associated with that account. If you got carried away and created multiple different websites, then cancelling your account may be easier than deleting each website individually.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Close your account permanently.
Review the list of content you’re about to delete, and if you’re happy to proceed then click Close account.
WordPress will now delete your username, all the sites you own, and all of your content.
Deleting a WordPress.com Blog From the Dashboard
If you created your website via WordPress.com, then you can delete it directly from the WordPress Dashboard. Note that when you delete your WordPress.com website, you’ll also lose access to your site’s URL unless you purchased the domain.
To delete your WordPress.com site, first log in to your WordPress account, if you haven’t already.
In the left-hand menu, select Manage > Settings. Now scroll to the very bottom of the screen and select Delete your site permanently.
At this point, you’ll have the option to export all of your posts, pages, and settings as a ZIP file. If you ever change your mind and want to reinstate your website, then you can upload this ZIP file to a new WordPress site and recover your content. This step is optional, but it’s also a one-time offer: if you don’t export now, then your content will be lost forever. If you do want to hang on to a copy of your content, then click Export all. Once the export is complete, click Back to resume deleting your website.
Review all the information about the content you’re about to delete, and if you’re happy to proceed, then click Delete site. When prompted, enter your website’s full URL for a final confirmation.
This is it! If you’re still determined to permanently remove your website from the World Wide Web, then click the Delete this site button and your WordPress website will be gone forever.
How to Delete Your Self-Hosted Website With cPanel
If you used cPanel to set up your self-hosted WordPress website, then you can also use cPanel to delete it:
Log in to your cPanel Dashboard.
Select the Hosting tab.
Find the website that you want to delete and click its accompanying Switch button.
On the subsequent screen, select WordPress.
Select Uninstall. After a few moments, you should see the following message: Software has been uninstalled.
Your WordPress website has now been deleted.
Delete Your Self-Hosted WordPress Website Manually
If you installed the WordPress software on your server manually, then you’ll also need to remove it manually. This process can vary depending on whether you have FTP or SFTP access, or you access your web server via a web-based file manager:
1. I have FTP or SFTP Access
If you have FTP or SFTP access, then you can delete your WordPress website using an FTP client:
Log in to your FTP server.
Locate your WordPress directory, and either Control-click or right-click it, depending on whether you’re running Windows or macOS.
When prompted, select Delete.
2. I Use a Web-Based File Manager
If you have access to a web-based file manager, then:
Log in to your web hosting dashboard.
Open your file manager application.
Navigate to the WordPress directory that you want to delete, and hit the Delete button.
Delete Your Website’s Database Using MySQL
After deleting your WordPress website, you may also want to delete your website’s MySQL database. You can remove this database using the following MySQL command:
$ mysql -h HOST -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD -D wordpress
$ DROP wordpress
Note that you'll need to replace wordpress with the name of your WordPress database, which is located in your wp-config.php file. The process for locating this database will vary depending upon your hosting provider—for example, if you were using cPanel, then you would typically use the file manager to browse to your WordPress directory, which contains the wp-config.php file.
Delete Your Database Using cPanel
If you’re a cPanel user, then:
Log in to your cPanel Dashboard.
Scroll to the Databases section, and select MySQL Databases.
Select the MySQL database that you want to delete.
Find the Delete Database link, and give it a click.
Read the onscreen warning, and if you’re happy to proceed, then click Delete Database.
cPanel will now delete your website’s database.
Conclusion
In this quick tip, I showed you how to permanently delete your WordPress.com or WordPress.org website, and how to optionally delete your site’s MySQL database.

With the increasing popularity of WordPress (which now powers over a third of the internet) comes an equally growing market of premium WordPress themes. Considering the vast array of themes available on the market nowadays, it can seem that many themes are very similar in nature and style.
This confusion is pushed by themes following common trends of design and functionality, therefore the plugins, components, and features found in themes are also often similar. This roundup will give you a way to find the best versatile WordPress theme for your personal or business needs. With a multipurpose theme you can tailor your website however you like, making it unique, and perfectly customised.
Things to Look for in a Versatile WordPress Theme
There are a couple important things to look out for when it comes to picking a great versatile WordPress theme:
1. Pick the Theme That Suits You Best By Design
It’s important to outline that most versatile WordPress themes advertise that they can be fully customized, regardless of how the theme’s main layout looks.
Take your pick
Although this is generally true, in a world where there are hundreds of designs available by default, it might be worth considering going with a design that’s closest to your expectations without having to make huge amounts of edits, thereby reducing your time investment.
2. Versatile Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Limitless
Although theme developers often suggest that their themes can cater to any need and can be used as the ultimate template, this might not always be the case for everybody.
Sometimes using a specific and niche-oriented theme might be a better decision, simply because those themes contain more suitable plugins, add-ons and functionality. This doesn’t meant that versatile themes might not work well for you, it simply means that performing thorough research on which theme could better address your needs will always yield the best results.

Best Practices to Keep in Mind When Creating Pricing Tables
Pricing tables are generally placed at a prime location on a website and they are used to highlight the main products and services that you offer. Therefore, it makes sense to follow all the best practices when you create these tables.
Here are a few things that you should remember when creating pricing tables:
1. Make the Tables Responsive
A lot of traffic on website generally comes from mobile devices nowadays. There is no fixed resolution that you can target when creating pricing tables. Therefore, it is important to make sure that your pricing tables look good on all screen sizes. The premium CSS pricing tables from CodeCanyon are already responsive so you won't even have to worry about it when using them.
2. Use Fewer Words
Pricing tables are meant to give users all the necessary information they need about different products at a glance. Use them to list the most important distinguishing features of these products. Other details can be mentioned somewhere else on the website.
3. Include a Prominent Call to Action Button
Hopefully, the pricing tables that you create will give users all the necessary information that they want before making a purchasing decision. Once they decide to buy one of your products and services, you should make it as easy as possible for them to complete the purchase. The best way to do that is to include a button to make the purchase somewhere in the pricing table itself.
