In this quick tip video you’ll learn what tags are in WordPress, how you can put them to good use, and how you can add and edit your own tags. This tutorial is perfect for anyone who’s just getting started using WordPress. Let’s dig in!
What Are Tags in WordPress?
What is a Tag in WordPress?
Tags are one of the predefined “taxonomies” in WordPress. Taxonomies are ways to organize information and tags are used as a means to categorize WordPress posts.
You might already be thinking “WordPress already has categories, why would I need to use another form of categorization?” and that’s a fair question!
Post categories and sub-categories can be found in the WordPress admin under posts > categories or pages > categories and you can add them to posts and pages in the WordPress editor. Categories tend to be very broad and they’re used to group posts and pages in a very general way.
On the other hand, tags can only be applied to posts and are very specific; think of them as being more like keywords. Instead of organizing posts into a broad hierarchy, they associate posts with a specific idea which might only be shared with a couple of other posts on your website.
How to Add Tags in WordPress
Add a new tag by going to posts > tags and entering the details in the form.
You really only need to add the tag name as WordPress will take care of the slug for you. You may or may not want to add a description, depending on your needs.
Once you’ve added a tag, you’ll find it available in the post editor. Begin entering the tag you want in the tag field and the autocomplete will bring up some suggestions for you.
You can also add new tags directly in this field. Enter the tag you want, and if it isn’t already available just hit enter and it will be added!
Depending on your chosen theme, the tags you attach may be displayed on the post on the front end. If so, you’ll be able to click those tags to be shown an archive of posts with the same tag.
How to Edit or Delete a Tag in WordPress
If you want to edit a tag, or delete it (for the sake of housekeeping) you can also do that by going to posts > tags. There, you’ll see a list of all the tags currently entered in your WordPress website, their slugs, descriptions, and also a count of how many posts they’re used on.
Find the tag in question, then click on it to edit, or delete by clicking the delete link.
That’s a Summary of Tags in WordPress!
I hope this quick WordPress tutorial has answered some of your questions about tags and given you a good start in understanding them. For more beginners tutorials on WordPress, check out the resources listed below:

In this Adobe XD tutorial you will learn how to create a resume web page design using a resume website template. You’ll also learn how to easily animate parts of its elements.
Download the Amber resume website template and open it in Adobe XD. Delete the Amber (Light) artboard and focus on the remaining Amber (Dark) artboard. Select the groups highlighted in the first image and remove them.
Step 2
Now, let's make some small adjustments to this resume website template. Start with the Home page section. First, change the Amber text from the top-left corner with Michael (#FFFFFF) Williams (#9013FE).
Adjust the spacing in your menu as shown below, replace the large Amber text with Michael and remove the purple dot.
Duplicate the PORTFOLIO button and move the copy to the right, leave a 50 px gap between these two objects. Select the new button shape, disable the Fill and add a white Border. Set the Size to 4 and check the Inner Stroke button. Change the text for this second button to “HIRE ME”.
Move to the About section. All you have to do is modify the spacing between the main components, as shown in the following image. Adjust the spacing between components to 100 px in the highlighted areas. This will add a bit of consistency to your final design making it easier on the eyes.
Step 4
Move to the Intermediate section and rename it Stats. First, adjust the top and bottom spacing as shown in the first image.
Add a rounded rectangle frame for each text box and set the Corner Radius to 20. Make sure that the spacing is even between all these rounded rectangles and center the text content inside each rounded rectangle.
Step 5
Move to the Blog section and adjust the spacing as shown in the first image. Open that Blog Grid group and keep only two Blog Grid Item groups. Adjust the styling as shown below.
Move to the Portfolio section and only adjust the spacing as shown in the second image. Do the same thing for the Contact Form section and replace the background image with that same Neon portrait of a young attractive man photo.
Step 6
Move all the sections of your design one under the other and adjust the height of your artboard accordingly. Have a look inside the Layers panel and arrange and rename your groups as shown below. This will make it a lot easier for you to locate and connect objects when you move to prototyping.
Click the name of your artboard and focus on the Property inspector. Select Vertical from the Scrolling menu and set the Viewport Height to 1080.
2. How to Create the Hover Animations in the Home Page of Your Resume Web Page Design
Step 1
Pick the Rectangle tool (R) and create an 136 x 2 px shape. Use the smart guides to easily place your shape as shown in the following image and then go to the Property inspector. Disable the existing Border using that check box and then click the Fill color well and change the color to #9025FB.
Using the same tool, create a 136 x 31 px shape and place it exactly as shown in the second image. The appearance attributes of this rectangle are not important as you're about to use this shape as a mask.
Select this rectangle along with the Michael Williams piece of text and the thin purple line. Right click on your selection and go to Mask with Shape (Shift-Command-M).
Step 2
Now, let's create out first hover animation. Make sure that your masked group is still selected, focus on the Property inspector and click the plus button from that Component section. Click again that plus button and add a Hover State. Make sure that it stays selected and return to your artboard.
Double click your group until you get to see that thin purple line. Select it and drag it below the text, as shown in the second image. Return to the Component section from the Property inspector and select the Default State.
With your component still selected, switch from Design to Prototype mode. Set the Easing to Ease-Out and the Duration to 0.3 seconds. Finally, click the preview button from the top-right corner of the screen to test your hover animation.
This is how your animation should look.

Switch to the Rectangle tool (R), create a 63 x 10 px shape and place it as shown in the second image. You can lower its Opacity to about 50% to easily place your shape in the right place. Select this rectangle along with the purple circle and the piece of text that lies in the back and mask them (Shift-Command-M).
Step 4
Make sure that the masked group made in the previous step is still selected and turn it into a component. Add a Hover State and select it.
Double-click your selected group until you get to see that purple circle, and then drag it up, as shown in the second image. Once you're done, return to the Default State.

Select the four elements made in this step along with the Michael and the Lorem Ipsum pieces of text and Group them (Command-G).
Step 6
Keep focusing on the group made in the previous step. Select the “My name is” piece of text and drag it next to the left edge of the artboard, and then select the “my mission is design” piece of text and drag it next to the right edge. Finally, select that purple circle and move it up, as shown in the following image.
Step 7
Keep focusing on that group. Select the red rectangle and bring it to front (Shift-Command-]), on top of the other elements of your group. A much easier way for you to select and move these objects would be in through the Layers panel.
Reselect this red rectangle along with the rest of the elements from this group and mask them (Shift-Command-M). Turn this masked group into a new component.
Step 8
Add a Hover State for your newest component, select it and move to your artboard. Select that "Lorem Ipsum" paragraph and lower its Opacity to 0%. Select the purple circle and the two pieces of text that lie outside your artboard and bring them to their original location, as shown in the second image.
Once you're done, return to the Property inspector and select the Default State for your component.
Switch from Design to Prototype mode, set the Easing to Ease In-Out and the Duration to 0.3 seconds, and then you can test your hover animation.
This is how your hover animations should look.
Step 9

Add a Hover State for this component and select it. Return to the Layers panel and turn back on the visibility for the purple rectangle and that More button. Return to the Default State.

Helping businesses and individuals increase their revenue, realize their true potential, and accomplish their goals is an exciting and rewarding career. But, as a business coach or a consultant, you need a suitably professional and modern online presence.
Your website will help you get more clients and sell more consulting sessions without you having to rely on cold calls or emails.
With a modern consulting website, you’ll be able to share all the services you offer, add booking forms, and have potential clients fill out questionnaires that will give you the necessary information you’ll need during coaching calls.
What is Consulting?
The terms coaching and consulting trigger images of high academia, lengthy and verbose meetings. In fact, the definition of consulting is relatively simple:
“Consulting is the business of providing expert advice to a specific group of people.” — consulting.com
Your own expertise, however seemingly slight, can always help others elevate themselves from their current state (professional or personal), to something or somewhere better.
What is Coaching?
Coaching is slightly different from consulting in that answers and solutions come from the client; a coach will partner with the client in a creative process instead of directly offering technical knowledge and expertise. Discover more about the finer details of what coaching is on coachfederation.org.

5 Quick Tips to Help You Book More Clients
Once you find the right WordPress coaching or consulting theme and make use of its customization features to reflect your brand, there are a few more tweaks that you can use to book more clients. Here are five quick tips that will help you make a great consulting website and fill out your calendar fast:
1. Use Video to Engage Your Visitors
A video can be a powerful way to greet visitors and welcome them to your site. You can share your message and explain who you love to help and then provide direction and tell them what page they should visit next on your site. An expert WordPress theme like GuruBlog is a great example of a theme that uses video on their homepage.
2. Place Booking Forms On Your Homepage
Your website should help you book more clients. But a call to action is sometimes not enough. Consider facilitating appointment scheduling by adding a booking form directly on your homepage.
This will reduce the number of pages your visitors have to click through and allow them to schedule a consultation with ease. Consider a consulting WordPress website theme like Entrepreneur to help you implement this.
3. Ensure the WP Theme is Responsive
No matter which coaching WordPress theme you choose, make sure it’s responsive. In today’s day and age, many people prefer using their phone or tablet to browse the internet. With a responsive website theme, they will be able to see all your services even on smaller devices and book their coaching session with ease. Thankfully, all the themes on our list look great no matter which device and screen size your visitors have.
4. Add Client Questionnaires
Another way to get more clients is to make the user experience as smooth as possible. Allowing them to book a session on your site is a step in the right direction, especially if they can add it to their calendar immediately.
But, you can take this experience a step further and maintain brand consistency by integrating client questionnaires directly into your site. A WordPress theme like WP Coach has all the tools that will help you add not only booking forms but questionnaires and more to your site.
5. Offer Free Consultation Calls
Finally, consider incentivizing visitors to come to your site by offering free consult calls. Potential clients who are in need of a coach and have just landed on your site might be wondering if you are the right coach for them.
While testimonials from past clients are great, sometimes giving them a taste of your coaching style may be just the thing they need to convince them that you can help them.

Editorial Note: this post is updated regularly—adding new WordPress themes with the best, trending designs, and removing discontinued or dated examples.
Whether you’re a photographer, a painter, or a web designer, one thing remains a constant: you need a portfolio. After all, portfolios are the time-tested, best way to give potential clients or employers a look into your work history and methodology.
I’ll give you an example. A photographer needs a portfolio to display their best work with categories for featuring different types of photos like black and white or nature-themed. Likewise, a web designer needs a creative portfolio that can be used to show off their latest client projects and even provide space to write about the development process.
Portfolios can take on many shapes and many styles. But the important commonality here is that they are, in fact, important. If you want to ensure your work resonates with its target audience, and pick up a few new clients or customers, you can use WordPress portfolio themes to build a stunning representation for your work on the web.
Quality, Not Quantity
When building a portfolio bear in mind that vast swathes of work are less likely to draw someone in than carefully curated portfolio examples.
“The best portfolios I reviewed usually had two projects in them – one that showed breadth, and one that showed depth” – Jon Kolko, Austin Center for Design
A portfolio designed to appeal to a potential employer will likely need to be assembled very differently from one which is put together to draw in clients, but the principle of quality over quantity still holds true.

How to Make a Portfolio Using Creative WordPress Themes
1. Carefully Install Your Theme
After picking the right theme for your situation, make sure you install it correctly. This means following the theme’s included documentation as well as following general theme installation best practices.
It’s a good idea to create a child theme for the portfolio WordPress theme you select as well, since this will ensure that the customizations you make won’t be deleted when a theme update is released.
2. Use The Theme’s Customization Settings
Speaking of customization, it’s a fantastic idea to get familiar with how you can customize your chosen theme. Most good themes come with thorough documentation, so be sure to read that to find out all of the little things you can modify or adapt to suit your needs.
Whether it makes use of the theme options panel, Live Customizer, or includes a custom settings screen, familiarize yourself with what’s included and make use of it to the greatest extent possible.
3. Optimize Your Portfolio Items
While you’re perusing your theme’s documentation, you’ll likely come across some specifications about how to approach your portfolio items. That is, you should pay attention to the sizing specifications, formats accepted, and your layout options. Then, you can go through all of the items you’d like to feature in your portfolio and optimize them accordingly.
A great portfolio layout won’t help you if your items don’t fit the format correctly. Everything will look "off." To avoid this, take the appropriate time to resize and format your images. A pristine end result will be worth it.
4. Keep Your Portfolio Up-to-Date
Once your site is up and running with your new WordPress portfolio theme, be certain to keep your portfolio up to date. Set aside some time each month to review your work and see if something new should be included in the lineup. Doing this keeps your site fresh and ensures you’re always putting your best face forward.

Once you have installed the Accordion FAQ WordPress plugin, head on over to WP Dashboard > FAQ > Categories. In the name field, we will type in "Online Store" and click the Add New Category button.
Next, we will click on WP Dashboard > FAQ > Add New. We will add in our three FAQ entries this way. We will include the question in the title and the answer in the text editor.
For each of our entries, we will make sure to click the checkbox next to the category, Online Store that we created to make sure we group the entries together.
Once we have added our three FAQ entries for our online store, it is time to add the accordion widget to a page. On an existing or new page or post, click on the Add Shortcode button on the top of the text editor. Choose Insert FAQs from the Select a Shortcode drop-down menu. From here we will be given a basic set of setting for us to change. We will choose the "Online Store" category from the Faq Category option and change the Icon Background Color to blue.

Today, we’ll show you how you can start using Elementor Templates on your WordPress website. Let’s begin!
What Are the Benefits of Elementor Templates?
Even the best WordPress page builders require some effort to get
things just right. Creating a professional-looking layout with
attractive design elements is possible–but it takes time.
Elementor templates take care of all the time-consuming work for
you. With just a few clicks, you have everything you need to create a
beautiful webpage.
Templates come in a variety of styles and some even include built-in
functionality. Just note that some may require the Elementor Pro
plugin, as opposed to the free version.
What’s more, Elementor template “kits” have also come onto the scene
recently. Kits are a collection of similarly-styled templates, all
meant to go together across a website. This means an entire site can be
built faster and easier.
You can also get your project off to a running start, as free
Elementor templates come bundled with the plugin (they’re available without the plugin too). In addition, there are
a number of free and commercial templates available elsewhere on the web.
Envato Elements gives you access to a great selection of premium Elementor Template Kits. It’s easy to get started! Find your favorite templates, download them and import them with the help of the free Template Kit - Import plugin.
With either method, you’ll be able to start building
your amazing website in no time at all.
1. Install and Activate Elementor
Elementor templates sound pretty amazing, right? The only technical
requirement to get started is to install and activate the free version
of the Elementor page builder plugin. In addition, you’ll need a free
personal account with Elementor–which we’ll get to later.
But first, let’s install the plugin:
Install and Activate Elementor Page Builder
Inside WordPress, visit Plugins > Add New.
In the search bar, type in Elementor Page Builder. Click the Install Now button.
Once the plugin has been installed, click on Activate.
You’re all set! Now, it’s time to put Elementor templates to work.
2. Add an Elementor Template to Your Page
For this step, you’ll need to choose or create a WordPress page
where you’d like to add an Elementor template. In our example, we’ll
create a new page called “About Us”.
Find Your Page
Navigate to your page within the WordPress Dashboard by visiting Pages > All Pages. Next, click on the page you want to edit.
Edit with Elementor
Inside the editor, click on the Edit with Elementor button on the upper left of the screen to launch the page builder.
Hint: If you’re using the WordPress Classic Editor, the Edit with Elementor button will appear just below the page title.
Enter the Elementor Template Library
Once inside the Elementor page builder, you’ll notice that there are
a lot of settings. But for our purposes, we’ll focus solely on the box
in the middle of the screen.
The box, surrounded with a dashed border, contains two icons: a pink plus sign and a gray folder. Hover your cursor over the gray folder icon and you’ll see a tooltip: Add Template.
Click on the icon to enter the Elementor Template Library.
Now, we’ve opened up a world of design possibilities.
Import an Elementor Template From the Library
There are a number of free Elementor templates to choose from. In addition, users of the
Pro version of Elementor also have access to a variety of exclusive
templates as well. And don’t forget you can check out the latest offering of Elementor Template Kits on Envato Elements.
Here, I’ll show you how to import a free Elementor template directly from their library, as well as how to import a downloaded template .ZIP file.
The Elementor Template Library has a lot of choices, so let’s narrow it down a bit. By searching for about, we’ll see just the Elementor templates that apply to our page.
Scrolling through the results, we find the perfect free Elementor
template for our needs. Clicking on it provides a closer look.
This looks to be a great fit! To use it, click on the green Insert button on the upper right of the screen.
Create a Free Elementor Account
At this point, you’ll be asked to sign up for a free
personal account with Elementor. Follow their signup process and, once
you’ve confirmed your account, you can connect it to your website.
Connecting your new Elementor account to your website will finish
the import process. Now, your Elementor template will be displayed on
your page.
Upload an Elementor Template .ZIP File
Alternatively, if you have downloaded a template from Envato Elements, importing requires a few extra steps.
First, you’ll want to install and activate the free Template Kit - Import plugin from Envato. Inside WordPress, visit Plugins > Add New.
In the search bar, type in Template Kit - Import. Click the Install Now button.
Once the plugin has been installed, click on Activate.
Next, you’ll need to upload your template to your website via the Template Kit - Import plugin.
Navigate over to Tools > Template Kit inside WordPress. Click on the Upload Template Kit ZIP File area of the screen.
Find the Elementor template kit ZIP file on your device, thenupload it to your website.
Once your Elementor template kit has been successfully installed, you’ll see a listing of new templates that are ready to use.
With your new Elementor template kit in place, you can now start adding templates to your page!
Visit the page you wish to edit and follow the same process we mentioned previously for editing with Elementor.
You’ll notice that the Elementor edit screen has changed slightly. Now, the Envato - Template Kit Import plugin has added a green leaf icon. Hover your cursor over the icon and you’ll see a tooltip: Envato Elements.
Click on the icon to open up your installed Template Kits.
Inside, you’ll see a listing of the Elementor template kits you have installed on your website. Click on the kit you want to use.
Finally, insert the desired template into your page.
Now, you have a beautiful new page that’s ready for you to customize!
3. Customize the Elementor Template
It’s time to make this template your own. The great thing about
Elementor templates is that every element can be customized to your
liking.
To get started, click on an element you’d like to
edit. From there, you can edit content directly within the element
itself. Or, to make style and layout changes, use the toolbar on the
left side of the screen.
Change the Layout
We’re using the default Twenty Twenty WordPress theme. And, when
importing our template, I noticed that the content width isn’t what
we’d like it to be. Luckily, this is easy to change with Elementor.
By clicking on the dotted Edit Section icon at the
top of the template, we can enable a full-width layout. Note that this
process will need to be repeated for each imported section of the
page.
Editing Colors
The pink background overlay in the section isn’t the best fit for
our theme. But it only takes a few clicks to change that into something
more palatable.
Customize All the Things
There’s really no limit as to what you can customize when it comes
to Elementor templates. Clicking on an element allows you to edit the
content, look and layout. You can also drag new elements onto your page
as well.
Save Your Changes
Once you’re happy with the results of your work, click on the green Update button on the lower left portion of the screen. This will save your custom-built page.
Tips for Using Elementor Templates
1. Templates Can Be Tweaked to Match Your Website
When searching for Elementor templates, you may be discouraged by a
specific design element or even the color scheme. Not to worry! These
items can be easily changed within the Elementor page builder to better
match your website.
2. Need to Design an Entire Website? Use Template Kits
Consistency is one of the keys to a great design. Elementor template
kits offer a matching set of templates – perfect for use throughout
your website. Use them to instantly add a consistent look and feel. Check out the latest offering of Elementor Template Kits on Envato Elements and download as many as you like with your subscription.

Elementor templates aren’t just for new website projects. In fact, they can also be an effective means of spicing up existing sites, too. Use templates to add compelling looks and features where needed. It’s a great way to bring new life to an older website.
4. Use Elementor Blocks for Smaller Jobs
Sometimes, a full-page template may be more than you need. Elementor
blocks are a great alternative. They are smaller, individual sections
that can be used to spice up your page. And, they’re built right into
the Elementor Template Library.
5. Mix and Match Blocks to Build Your Own Custom Pages
To add a unique touch to your pages, try utilizing multiple Elementor blocks. They can make for great page sections, allowing you to create a natural separation of content. You can mix, match and customize each one to fit your needs.
Create Custom Pages with Minimal Effort
The next time you’re looking to create a highly-custom page for your
WordPress website, give Elementor templates a try. They offer an easy
way add both beauty and functionality with just a few clicks.
And, with the ability to edit each and every element, you can tweak
an Elementor template to match your style. The end result will be a
page that looks like it was custom built just for you.

5 Quick Tips For Forum Websites
Finding the right forum website template for WordPress is the first step towards adding forums to your site. Here are five more tips that will help you create an engaging community or provide your customers with stellar support.
1. Decide What’s The Purpose Of Your Forum
The first tip is to decide on the purpose of your forum. Do you want to make it easier for your clients and customers to engage with your brand? Or do you want to make sure they get the needed support for your products and services? Knowing this will make it easier to plan and decide on how you’re going to structure the forums and engage your users.
2. Choose The Right Theme
Based on the focus of your forums, you’ll need to select the right WordPress forum theme. The forums should blend in with the rest of your site and the theme should make it easy to create new topics, respond to them, and organize the discussions in your forums.
3. Don’t Go Overboard With Sub Forums And Threads
While creating multiple topics and sub forums is a great way to organize your forum, it can also result in your forums being difficult and confusing to use. Be careful when creating new sub forums and threads.
4. Be a Present Admin
Keep in mind that building an engaging community takes time. As such, it’s your job as the forum admin to be there for your members and show them that they won’t be left to their own devices.
5. Encourage Discussion
Lastly, encourage discussion between your members by asking questions, prompting them to reply, and encouraging them to start their own threads. This will help you create momentum as well as ensure that your community is active and engaged at all times.
Launch Your Forums Quickly With The Best WordPress Forum Theme
Do you want to make your WordPress website stand out from the crowd?
Custom fonts are one way to give your site that unique look and feel you’ve been craving, even if you’re using the exact same theme as countless other WordPress websites.
In this article, this post, I'll show you how to add new fonts to WordPress. Even better, I’ll show you how to get your hands on thousands of free custom fonts, from two of the Internet’s most popular online font repositories: Abode’s Typekit and Google Fonts.
Although I’ll be focusing on Typekit and Google Fonts, there are countless websites that offer free custom fonts. The process of adding these fonts to your site can vary, but throughout this tutorial I’ll be covering the most common methods, including using plugins and editing your website’s CSS. By the end of this tutorial, you’ll have techniques that you can apply to the majority of custom font repositories, even if they’re not explicitly covered in this tutorial.
If you already have a specific font in mind, then it’s worth booting up your favourite search engine and running a search for custom font followed by a few words that describe your ideal font, such as custom font Netflix or custom font Star Wars.
If you don’t have a particular font in mind, then Typekit and Google Fonts offer thousands of custom fonts, so these two sites should provide you with plenty of options. However, if you’ve trawled Typekit and Google Fonts and still can’t find a font catches your eye, then FontSquirrel, 1001 Fonts and FontSpace are also great places to find custom fonts.
Just don’t get carried away, as cramming your website full of third party fonts can impact its performance, and websites that are forever switching between different fonts tend to be difficult to read, and unpleasant to look at!
Adding Google Fonts to WordPress
There’s typically two ways you can add new fonts to WordPress: use a dedicated plugin, or edit your website’s CSS. In the following sections, I’ll be covering both methods.
CSS: Adding Custom Google Fonts Manually
Editing your theme’s CSS is a multi-step process, but it’s also one of the most versatile ways to import new fonts:
Head over to the Google Fonts website, and find a font that you want to use. Then click the Select this font link.
A Family selected popup should now appear towards the bottom-right of the screen. Click it.
Make sure the Embed tab is selected, and copy the provided embed code.
In a separate tab, log into your WordPress account.
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, navigate to Appearance > Theme Editor.
Open the Select theme to edit dropdown, choose your current theme, and then click Select.
In the Theme files menu, select the header.php file.
Find the opening <head> tag, and paste the Google Fonts embed code directly after this tag.
Click Update file to complete the edit to your theme.
Now that you’ve added this font to your website, you need to define where WordPress should use it, for example maybe want to use the Google Font for your website’s body text or all h1 headings.
In WordPress’ Theme files menu, find the style.css file, and click it. Note that in some themes style.css may be stored inside a CSS folder.
Switch back to your Google Fonts tab and select @Import.
Copy the Specify in CSS code.
Switch back to your WordPress tab and find the section of code that represents where you want to use this font. For example, if you wanted to use the font for your website’s body text, then you’d need to locate a section of code that looks something like this:
This step can vary depending on your theme and the type of text you want to edit. If you’re struggling to work out which piece of code you need to modify, then try opening the style.css file and performing a search for font-family as this will highlight all the code that controls how fonts are used across your website.
Once you’ve identified the correct piece of code, you’ll need to replace the font-family with Google Fonts’ specify in CSS code. For example, my specify in CSS code is:
font-family: 'Indie Flower', cursive;
So I need to replace font-family: 'Montserat' in the style.css file. This gives me the following:
Once you’ve modified the code, save your changes by clicking Update File. Refresh your WordPress website, and it should now be using your new font. Note that if the font doesn’t change following a refresh, then you may need to clear your cache or view your website in an incognito tab.
Since every WordPress theme is unique, editing a theme’s CSS files can sometimes be a challenge.
If you’re struggling to work out which piece of code you need to edit, or you simply don’t like the idea of delving into your website’s CSS, then you can import Google Fonts using the Easy Google Fonts plugin:
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Plugins > Add New.
Search for the Easy Google Fonts plugin, and when it appears select Install followed by Activate.
Next, navigate to Appearance > Customize.
You’ll now have access to a new Typography item. Click it.
Select Default Typography.
Scroll the side-menu until you find the section of text that you want to edit, such as Heading 1 or Paragraphs, then open the Font Family dropdown and choose the Google Font that you want to use.
Once you’ve selected your font, you can customize it using the settings in the Appearance and Positioning tabs, for example you may want to change the font’s colour, size or spacing. When you’re happy with your new font, select Publish.
Your website should now update to use this new font.
Adding a Custom Font Using Typekit
Google Fonts isn’t the only place where you can get access to free custom fonts. Let’s look at how you can use CSS to add any font from Adobe’s Typekit repository:
Browse the Typekit library, and find a font that you want to add to your WordPress website.
Give the Add to Web Project button a click.
Give your project a descriptive name, and then select Save.
Push the Activate fonts slider into the On position.
You’ll now need to copy/paste this font’s embed code into your website’s <head> tag. To get your hands on the embed code, navigate to My Adobe Fonts > Web Projects or access the Web Projects page directly.
Find the provided embed code and copy it—without any of the <style> tags.
In a new tab, log into your WordPress account.
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Appearance > Theme Editor.
Open the Select theme to edit dropdown, choose the theme you’re currently using, and then click Select.
In the Theme files menu, find the header.php file and clickit.
Find the opening <head> tag, and paste the embed code directly after this tag.
Click Update file.
Flick back to the Typekit tab, and find the following link: If you'd like to use fonts in HTML email, use the @import link. Select this link and then copy the provided import code.
Flick back to WordPress. In the Theme Files menu, select style.css.
Paste the embed code at the very start of the style.css file.
Save your changes to the theme by clicking Update File.
Now, you need to find the code that defines the font you want to change, and update it to reference your Typekit font instead.
This process will vary depending on the theme you’re using and the text you want to update, but you’ll typically need to complete the following steps:
In WordPress’ Theme Files menu, select the style.css file.
Find the section of code that you need to update; once again it may help to search for the phrase font-family as this will highlight all of your theme’s font-related code.
Once you’ve identified the correct section of code, you’ll need the CSS for your new Typekit font. In a new tab, head over to Typekit’s Active Fonts section (or navigate to My Adobe Fonts > Active Fonts.)
Find the font that you want to use on your website and click it.
Scroll to the bottom of the font’s page; the How to Use section should contain a Web code. Copy the font-family section.
Switch back to your WordPress tab, and replace the font-family line with the line that you just copied.
When you’re happy with your changes, click Update File.
Check your website; it should now be using your new font!
Conclusion
In this tutorial, I showed you how to customize any WordPress theme, using the endless supply of free fonts available online.
If you’ve been following along, then you now have the entire Google Fonts and Typekit libraries to choose from. However, if you want to download a font from someone other than Adobe or Google, then you should be able to get similar results by finding that font’s embed code and pasting it into your WordPress theme files, using the instructions outlined in this article. Many large font repositories also have dedicated plugins that make it easier to add fonts to your website, so it’s always worth checking whether there's a plugin available.

5 Design Tips for Better Full-Screen Websites
Full-screen WordPress themes and websites are one of the best ways to present your portfolio, whether you’re showcasing full-page photography, video, or your design projects. However, with a little creativity, they can also be used for business websites. Here are a few important design tips to keep in mind when it comes to making full-screen websites:
1. Use High-Quality Images
Images will be the center point of your full-page website. Because of this, it’s important to use high-quality images scaled to the size that your WP theme specifies. But, do take care to optimize the images for the web and save them in appropriate format to avoid slowing down your site. You can also use the lazy load effect found in ePix to make your site load quicker.
2. Make Use of Hover Effects
When done right, hover effects can make your images stand out even more. Using the Ken Burns effect is especially popular with photography sites, however, you can also use an effect that zooms the image in on hover or a creative transition between two slides. WordPress Themes like Moriarty or PhotoReactive are a prime example of creative hover effects in use.
3. Keep Your Menu Simple
Keeping the menu simple is extremely important in full-screen websites. It allows visitors to focus on your work without seeing dozens of pages and feeling overwhelmed. Almost all of the themes on our list use a simple and hidden menu that appears only when a user hovers over the menu icon.
4. Consider Using a Sticky Menu
Another way to keep the focus on your images is to use a sticky menu. If you create a long-scrolling page, having a sticky menu is an unobtrusive way to keep the navigation always accessible and allows visitors to go to another page quickly. A theme like Shoot does an excellent job of integration a subtle sticky menu.
5. Experiment With Layouts
Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with different grid layouts to get the most out of your theme. With all the possibilities, you can decide how many photos or portfolio pieces you want to show in a unique way, while still keeping your site organized and visually appealing.

In this new tutorial, we’ll start with some grayscale images and learn how to smoothly reveal their colored variants on scroll. To achieve the desired effect, we’re going to take advantage of different modern front-end features like CSS Grid, the clip-path property, and the Intersection Observer API.
Our Grayscale to Color Effect
Without further intro, let’s check out what we’ll be building:
Browser Support
Although this effect has decent browser support, please note that it won’t work in some browsers like the earlier versions of Microsoft Edge. For this example, I’ll concentrate on the technique behind the effect without providing fallbacks for other browsers.
Inside each section, we’ll put a heading and a fullscreen div wrapper. The wrapper will include two empty divs. Both elements will share the same background image. The first one will show the grayscale version of it, while the last one its original colored version:
The colored image will appear with a slide animation from left to right. Happily enough, we can customize the direction of this animation via the data-animation attribute. All it needs is to add this attribute to the corresponding .colored element with values to-left, to-top, or to-bottom.
2. Define the Styles
With the markup ready, we’ll continue with the main styles.
Utility Classes
For this demonstration, we’ll first define two utility classes which we’ll attach to the target elements:
To create the grayscale images, we’ll use the grayscale() CSS function and pass the value of 1 or 100% as its argument. Also, we’ll give all grayscale images a background color as a fallback until each of those images loads:
As mentioned above, the colored images will initially be hidden. They will become visible with a slide animation as soon as a part of them becomes visible on the page.
To visually hide them, we won’t use any of the traditional CSS ways like display: none, opacity: 0, and transform: translateX(-100%). In fact, we’re going to try clip-path, a modern CSS property that can help us build interesting effects.
A Quick clip-path Property Explanation
The clip-path property gives us the ability to cut away parts of an element and show only a specific portion of it. The visible area can be represented with different shapes (circles, ellipses, polygons, rectangles).
In our example, we’ll use the inset() function to build the desired rectangle.
In its simplest form, it can receive up to four values in a clockwise direction which specify the side offsets (top, right, bottom, left) that generate the selected area. For simplicity, we can use the margin shorthand which gives us the ability to set all four insets with one, two, three, or four values. Optionally, we can pass some extra values to this function for specifying the rectangle’s roundness.
So, just for practice, let’s assume that we have the following Pixabay image which is 200px by 300px.
If we give it clip-path: inset(10px 20px 30px 40px), the resulting image will be 140px by 260px:
Going a step further, an element with clip-path: inset(0) means that the whole element will appear.
On the other hand, an element with one of the four values set to 100% means that it will be squeezed and hidden. Keep in mind that the order of this value inside the function matters and can produce different animations.
Back to our example, here’s how we initially hide the colored images:
The colored images will be animated and toggled on scroll.
To accomplish this task, we’ll take advantage of the Intersection Observer API.
When at least 50% of each target element enters the viewport, it will receive the is-animated class. Otherwise, it will lose this class and become hidden.
Without going into too much detail, here’s the JavaScript code that implements this functionality:
const targets = document.querySelectorAll(".colored");
const isAnimated = "is-animated";
function callback(entries, observer) {
entries.forEach((entry) => {
const elem = entry.target;
if (entry.intersectionRatio > 0.5) {
elem.classList.add(isAnimated);
} else {
elem.classList.remove(isAnimated);
}
});
}
let observer = new IntersectionObserver(callback, { threshold: 0.5 });
for (const target of targets) {
observer.observe(target);
}
Note1: To see how this API works and what it returns as you scroll, print in the browser console the entry.
Note2: Initially, instead of the intersectionRatio property I tried the isIntersecting one. However, I noticed that it’s buggy in Firefox.
Tip: If you prefer the animation to run only once, you have to call the unobserve() method, like this:
That’s it, folks! Today, we managed to build an interesting scroll effect by taking advantage of exciting new CSS and JavaScript features.
Obviously, like any modern tool, this effect has some limitations regarding browser support, especially if you target older browsers. For example, as a fallback, you can show the colored images by default in case the browser doesn’t support the clip-path property.
Hopefully though, this exercise helped you learn something new and has given you some creative ideas. Here’s a reminder of what we built:
As always, thanks a lot for reading!

Now that we've gone over all the best premium and free weather WordPress plugins available, you might be wondering how you can add them to your website.
Let's take a look at how you can customize a premium weather plugin so it can fit seamlessly into your website.
1. Insert aWeather Into Your Website
First, we need to insert the aWeather plugin into the site once the plugin is installed. Choose Appearance > Widgets from the WordPress admin sidebar. From there, we will look for the aWeather Forecast tab under Available Widgets. We would like the widget to appear in the footer of our website, so click on the tab and choose Footer. The widget will now be added to our website and we can begin customizing it.
2. Type in Your OpenWeather Map API ID
Next, click on the aWeather widget under the Footer section of the widget editor. This will open up the customization options for the widget.
In order for the widget to display the current weather forecast for your desired location, we must add an API key in the OpenWeatherMap App ID text field. To do this, click on the Get App ID link next to the field title.
You will then need to create an account on the OpenWeather website in order to obtain the API keys. Click the Sign-Up link on the webpage. Once you have signed up with a valid email, click on the API keys link on the second-level menu header. Copy and paste the API key called default back into the OpenWeatherMap App ID text field. Your widget will now be ready to display current forecasts from around the world.
3. Configure the Display
Finally, we can adjust the widget to display the weather forecast how we would like. Under the aWeather widget, type in "London, UK" as we would like to show the weather forecast for London. Next, click the drop-down menu titled Units format, and choose Fahrenheit. Lastly, click the save button at the bottom of the widget. Changing the font size in your WordPress site is something you can do quickly and easily for a small section of text, or something that can take a little more work if you want to do it for a larger section of text.
In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you how to change the font size in your WordPress site.
I’ll show you two quick methods:
changing the font size in an individual block
adding a CSS class to a block and then styling the class
I’ll also give you an introduction to changing the font size across your site, by editing your stylesheet.
When you’re editing text in your WordPress posts, you can choose to make a block of text have a different font size from the other blocks on the page.
This can help to highlight a specific section of your page.
You should use this method with caution: too much will make your site look messy and unprofessional. And if you do it more than once, make sure you use the same font size for all the larger or smaller sections of text.
Start by finding the block of text whose font size you want to change.
On the right of the screen in the Block pane, open the Text Settings tab.
Here you can choose to make your text larger or smaller, or to specify an exact font size for it. I’ve boosted the font size to medium:
You could boost it even more and make it huge, but beware of making your site look messy.
Alternatively, select a specific font size and make sure you use that for all your larger or smaller font blocks across your site.
Finally, click Update to update your post or Publish to publish it. That will save your changes.
How to Use a CSS Class to Change Font Size
If you want to make sure that all your larger text blocks are the same size and don’t want to have to remember the size you used, you can use a CSS class to assign a consistent font size to all elements with that class.
Find your text block again and in the Block pane, open the Advanced tab.
In the Additional CSS class(es) field, type in a CSS class. I’m gong to use text-large:
Now click Update or Publish to save your post.
You now have two options for editing the size of blocks using that class:
Add styling in the Customizer
Add styling to your theme’s stylesheet
Styling the Class in the Customizer is the easiest way to do it, and won’t cause you any problems when you update your theme.
Go to Appearance > Customize in the WordPress admin and click Additional CSS.
In the Additional CSS pane, type in the following to make your text larger:
.text-large {
font-size: 1.2em;
}
Using ems instead of a specific font size will make this text 1.2 times the size of a normal paragraph.
Click the Publish button to save your changes.
Now go to your post in your live site and you’ll see that your block with the text-large class is larger than the text around it:
If you want to boost the size more, just edit the CSS in the customizer. Now whenever you want to make a block larger, you just give it that class and the font size will be changed for you.
Changing Font Size in Your Theme’s Stylesheet
The two methods I’ve shown you don’t need you to edit the files in your theme or to have an in-depth understanding of CSS. And they give you a quick way to change the font size in WordPress.
But if you want to edit the size of existing elements in your site (such as all paragraphs or lists), or you want to add CSS in the stylesheet instead of in the customizer, you’ll need to edit your theme’s stylesheet.
You can find out more about editing your stylesheet in our guide to adding custom CSS to your WordPress site. If you want to go into more depth, it’s a great place to start.
Changing the font size of text in your WordPress site can take minutes to do. You can either edit the font size of a block directly, or give it a class and then write CSS for your class.
Whichever method you do, use it sparingly for maximum effect and make you you don’t end up with a site that looks messy and unprofessional.

How to Choose a Small Business WordPress Theme for Your Website
With thousands of small business templates available, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated when trying to choose a WordPress theme. Before we dive into our theme roundup, here are a few helpful tips that will show you what features to look for and help you choose the best small business WordPress theme for your site.
Responsive design. It (almost) goes without saying nowadays, but one of the most important features to look for in a WordPress theme is responsive design. A responsive theme will adapt to the screen size that the visitor is using, which means that potential clients won’t have to scroll, pinch, and zoom unnecessarily to see your content.
Easy customization. You’ll also want to look for a theme that’s easy to customize so you can incorporate your brand colors and fonts as well as change the layout of any page without learning how to code.
Fast loading times. Pay attention to the theme description and look for a theme that says it loads fast or has been optimized for speed. Search engines place more importance on page loading times and prefer websites that load quickly these days, so be aware of that.
SEO optimization. Even though WordPress has great SEO from the start, a theme that’s optimized for search engines will help your site rank better, so opt for a theme that helps you with SEO optimization.
Necessary features. Lastly, you’ll want to look for special features that will help you convert visitors into customers and clients, as well as those that are best suited for your small business. Calls-to-action, newsletter sign up forms, contact forms, booking forms, event calendars, and portfolios are just some of the features that might come in handy for your business.
Tips for Building the Best Small Business Website With WordPress
1. Determine Your Audience
As with other facets of running a business, a great website requires
knowledge of your target audience. Think about who your average
customer is and build your website around their needs. What kinds of
information will they be looking for? What features can make their
experience on your website a good one? Answer these questions and
you’ll be on your way to success.
2. Start Simple
Running a small business is a challenge. It seems like there is
always something that needs your attention. Therefore, it’s important
to not bite off more than you can chew when it comes to your website.
Grand plans left with “coming soon” messages will make your website
look more like a ghost town. Instead, start small and get a sense of
what’s involved. You can always add those bells and whistles later on.
3. Make It Personal
One of the great advantages of running a small business is that you
can provide a higher level of personalized service. This is something
that should shine through on your website. Take advantage of how easy
it is to publish your thoughts with WordPress via a blog or even the
content elsewhere on your site. Adding a personal touch will help you
connect with customers.
Launch Your Website With WordPress and a Small Business WordPress Theme
Conferences and networking events are one of the best ways to promote your business and establish relationships with potential clients as well as business partners.
An essential part of any successful event or conference strategy is setting up a website to promote it and to create a resource that explains all the benefits of signing up for your event. And let’s face it; competition is heating up–your event needs to get noticed!
“the number of B2B events — like tradeshows, conference, or sales and marketing meetings — are on the rise” – Eventbrite
Why You Should Use an Event Theme
Even though you may already have a website for your business, setting up a separate website for your event has a couple of important benefits:
It gives your visitors a single call to action to focus on, which increases sign-up rates.
It reduces the chances of your visitors getting distracted by a page or a post that has nothing to do with the conference you’re trying to promote.
By creating a separate website, you will be able to build anticipation and excitement for the upcoming event. And selecting the right theme for your event plays a crucial role.
A good event WordPress theme will have an appealing design and it will also make it easy to publish useful information for your attendees, such as the event location, session schedules, speaker profiles, as well as the ability to manage registrations and mobile responsive design.

When it comes to building a WordPress event website, choosing a professional WordPress event theme, and then installing your chosen theme is not enough. Aside from making sure your website is responsive and loads fast, there are several different things to keep in mind to ensure your event is a complete success.
The goal of your event or conference site should be two-fold:
Create awareness for your event
Capture ticket sales
With that in mind, here’s our list of best tips and practices for event websites:
1. Insert the When and Where In Plain View
Even though some of your website visitors know when and where your event is taking place, it’s safe to assume that the majority of them have no clue. To reduce the chances of your visitors leaving your website in frustration, it’s crucial that you place this information front and center, as well as include a sign-up button or a form. You should also include a brief tagline that describes your event like in the Meetup theme.
2. Create a Brand for Your Event
Make sure your event is memorable by designing a special logo for it and use it not only on your website, but in every social media update, and on flyers and posters to promote your event. Make sure you use consistent colors and fonts to further improve the impression of your event.
3. Have a Clean, Organized Design
Don’t clutter up your page with unnecessary elements. If you need multiple pages, then keep your menu with only the links you need for your event. Highlight your speakers, signup dates, costs and only your most important information. Present your event details in a way that’s logical for a first-time visitor who's just become interested in your event.
4. Add Plenty of Calls-to-Action
An event page with no distinct CTA is a wasted effort so make sure to include multiple calls-to-action that clearly stand out from the rest of your website. Don’t be afraid to use a bright color like the Eventer theme does, to draw attention to your CTA - whether that’s a link, a button, or a form that prompts the user to buy a ticket, apply as a sponsor or a speaker, or simply entice them to learn more about your event.
5. Include Speaker Pictures and Bios
Great speakers can do wonders to attract visitors and attendees to your event. The event page should show their faces and list their credentials similarly to the Eventum theme. Consider creating short videos of the speakers and including them on your website.
6. Promote Your Event on Social Media With a Special Hashtag
Promoting your event on social media is natural if you want to attract as many people as possible. Be sure to include social media sharing buttons on the registration page as well as the Thank You page.
Take it a step further by creating a special hashtag for your event and use it not only to promote your event but to connect with people before and during the event. Also, consider including a link to your event in your social media bios across different profiles.

Changing the font color in your WordPress site is something you can easily do for a small section of text or a block. Alternatively you can change the color of a specific element or a CSS class throughout your site.
In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you how to quickly change the font color in your WordPress site.
I’ll show you two methods:
Changing font color of an individual block.
Adding a CSS class to a block for color and then styling the class.
I’ll also give you an overview of changing the font color across your site, using your stylesheet.
You can choose to make a section of text or a whole block of text in one of your posts or pages a different color from the rest. You can use this to highlight some text and make it stand out, or to enhance the design of your site.
A word of warning: too many colors will make your site look messy and unprofessional. Make sure you use colors that don’t clash.
Start by finding the section of text whose color you want to change.
Select the text you want to change the color of by double clicking it. Click the arrow icon above the block and select Text Color.
Choose the color you want the text to have. The color will change for you in the editing screen.
Alternatively, you can use a hex code to select a specific color. This is a good idea if you want to use a color that’s used elsewhere in your site.
Click the Custom color link and either select a color from the picker or type in the hex code.
Repeat this for any other blocks of text or sections of text whose color you want to change. You don’t have to change the color of a whole block—you can just change one word if you want.
Finally, click Update to update your post or Publish to publish it. That will save your changes.
Now your text will be whatever color you gave it:
How to Use a CSS Class to Change Font Color
If you want to change a bunch of text blocks so they’re all the same color, the best way to do this is by using a CSS class. This way you know they’ll all be the same color and you won’t have to remember what color you used.
Find your text block again and in the Block pane, open the Advanced tab.
In the Additional CSS class(es) field, type in a CSS class. I’m gong to use highlight-color. I’m deliberately not naming the color in case I decide to change it later on.
Now click Update or Publish to save your post.
You now have two options for editing the color of blocks using that class:
add styling in the Customizer
add styling to your theme’s stylesheet
Styling the class in the Customizer is the easiest way to do it, and won’t cause you any problems when you update your theme.
Go to Appearance > Customize in the WordPress admin and click Additional CSS.
In the Additional CSS pane, type in the CSS to change your font color:
.highlight-color {
color: #e76d16;
}
Change your color in that code to whatever color you want to use, using a hex code. It’s a good idea to use a color that’s in use elsewhere in your theme, or one that looks good with your theme while making the text stand out.
Click the Publish button to save your changes.
Now go to your post in your live site and you’ll see that your block with the highlight-color class is a different color than the text around it:
Now you can use this class for any blocks you want to make that color.
Changing Font Color in Your Theme’s Stylesheet
With the two methods I’ve shown you, you don’t need to edit the files in your theme or have an in-depth understanding of CSS. And they give you a quick way to change the font color in WordPress.
But if you want to edit the color of existing elements in your site (such as all paragraphs or links), or you want to add CSS in the stylesheet instead of in the customizer, you’ll need to edit your theme’s stylesheet.
You can find out more about editing your stylesheet in our guide to adding custom CSS to your WordPress site. If you want to go into more depth, that’s a great place to start.
Changing the font color of text in your WordPress site just takes minutes to do. You can either edit the font color directly, or give it a class and then write CSS for your class.
But however you choose to do this, don’t overdo it. And make sure you use colors that work together well to avoid having a site that looks messy and unprofessional.

Five Quick Tips For Insurance Websites
Now that you’ve seen all the great insurance WordPress themes, here are a few more quick tips that will help you create a great website for your insurance company.
1. Make It Easy to Get a Quote
The first thing your website should do is make it easy for potential customers to get a quote. You can do this by including a quote form right at the top of your homepage or by adding a button that links to a page where they can get a quote.
2. Use Bullet Points to Highlight Features and Benefits of Each Plan
Bullet points will make it easier for your website visitors to understand how the plans differ and facilitate choosing the right plan for their needs.
3. Share Testimonials From Past Customers
Make sure to include testimonials from past customers on key pages of your website. This includes your homepage, your services page, and a page where they can get a custom quote. This will help build trust with potential clients and make them more likely to buy one of your insurance packages.
4. Provide Multiple Ways for Contacting You
While some people will prefer getting an instant quote online, keep in mind that not all of your customers will want that. Some may prefer talking to you directly so make sure to provide them with several ways of getting in touch with you.
5. Make It Branded With Your Colors and Fonts
Lastly, make sure your website accurately reflects your brand. Customize it with your brand’s colors and fonts to make it stand out from the competition.
