Breadcrumbs are secondary navigation, in that they’re not used as the main way of navigating a website. Instead, they show the user’s current location and the route by which they arrived there.
Breadcrumbs allow the user to step back to any point in their journey from the root of the website.
Thanks, Hansel and Gretel
If you’re at all familiar with the tale of Hansel and Gretel you’ll know where the metaphor originates (thankfully breadcrumbs in modern websites are a lot more practical than the crumbs from the story..)
The examples above demonstrate perfect use of breadcrumbs: where the content hierarchy is potentially complex, with several depths of categories and subcategories.
There’s no real need to use breadcrumbs in a website or web application where there’s no logical hierarchy or expansive content.
Using Breadcrumbs in WordPress
Breadcrumbs in WordPress are exactly the same as in other websites; there’s no functional difference.
However, by default, WordPress does not have a breadcrumb system, so you’ll have to implement it yourself. We can do that using a plugin, so let’s see how that works.
1. Install a Breadcrumb Plugin for WordPress
In your WordPress admin go to Plugins > Add New and enter the keyword breadcrumbs in the search box. You’ll be shown a large number of options, but perhaps the most popular and the one we’ll use today is packaged into the Yoast SEO plugin.
Go ahead and install it, then active it.
2. Yoast SEO Breadcrumb Settings
Yoast SEO offers a whole load of SEO functionality, but we’re only interested in the breadcrumbs for now. In the WordPress admin go to SEO > Search Appearance then go to the Breadcrumbs tab and click Enabled.
You’ll notice several options:
Specify the separator between breadcrumb links
Specify the anchor text used for the Home page
and so on
Make the changes you need, then hit Save. Now we need to insert the breadcrumbs into our theme.
Then go back to your WordPress admin and visit Appearance > Theme Editor. At this stage you need to decide where you want to insert the breadcrumbs. Putting them in the header will make them visible on all pages of your website, so that’s what we’ll go for.
Open the Theme Header (header.php) and then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the file where you can paste your code snippet.
Important: exactly what you see here will depend entirely on the theme you’re using, so results may differ. You may not even need the <?php> tags in the snippet, because your header may already be wrapped in them, so be sure to pay attention to code error warnings.
I’m using the Twenty Twenty theme, and what we’ve done now gives us this:
It needs some styling work, but we have functional breadcrumbs!
Note: I recommend you use a Child Theme with your WordPress installation, so that changes you make to the theme files won’t be overwritten when you update the them.
There’s another way to use the Yoast SEO Breadcrumbs which doesn’t involve coding of any kind, and that’s by using a shortcode. Let’s see how that works.
The shortcode is also available for you to copy on the Yoast website, but here it is anyway:
[wpseo_breadcrumb]
Then, in your WordPress admin, go to one of your pages or posts and paste the shortcode in! You’ll see the breadcrumbs on the front end, but of course they’re within the body of your post and page, which you may or may not find suitable.
5. How to Customize Yoast SEO Breadcrumbs
Using CSS we can tailor the way our breadcrumbs look; we just need to know what selectors to use. So on your front end, use the browser’s inspector, and you’ll see something like this:
By default our breadcrumbs are wrapped in a paragraph with an ID of breadcrumbs. So by going to the WordPress admin Appearance > Customize we’ll be able to open up the customizer and (more than likely, depending on the theme you’re using) the Additional CSS tab.
Add styles such as:
#breadcrumbs {
padding: 1rem;
}
and you’ll see the changes take effect right there in the preview window. You can also target the last link in the trail, using:
#breadcrumbs .breadcrumb_last {
color: red;
}
Again, use the inspector to uncover the structure and the CSS selectors you’ll need.
When you’re done, hit Publish, and your changes will be applied.
Go Forth and Lay Breadcrumbs!
And we’re done! I hope this gave you a good insight into what WordPress breadcrumbs are, how you can use them, and how you can implement them into your own website.

How to Promote Your Writer’s Website in 2020
Setting up your website with a gorgeous theme is only the beginning. If you want your work to get noticed, you’ll have to put in some work to grow your blog and promote your work. Here are four tips to get you started in the right direction.
1. Build Up Your Social Media Profiles
Increase the visibility of your brand by creating social media profiles and make sure to fill them out completely as well as provide a link back to your website. Share your content regularly but also share content that is related to your niche that your audience will find valuable.
For best results, take advantage of a theme such as SmartBlog to include social sharing buttons and social media icons on your website. Notice the persistent social media buttons showcased in the theme's menu (shownhighlighted below):
2. Join Industry Related Facebook, LinkedIn Groups, and Writing Communities
Participate in industry related groups and take advantage of LinkedIn’s publishing platform to drive traffic to your website. The same applies to Facebook groups where you can offer valuable advice, share opinions, and position yourself as an expert.
Offline writing communities are also another place to build connections and cross-promote your work and website with others. They give you access to new audiences and help grow traffic to your site.
3. Use the Power of Guest Posting
Guest posting is one of the best ways to increase your visibility and draw new audiences to your website. In most cases, you will get a chance to include your author bio which should link to your website where interested readers can check out more of your work. You can link to your portfolio page such as that included in The Thinker.
Use a theme such as Leona or Squaretype to include calls to action throughout your website to drive traffic to other pages on your site, such as your online store or your portfolio. Learn more about creating effective calls to action in this quick Tuts+ course.
5. Collaborate With Others
Instead of seeing other writers as your competition, consider teaming up with them and creating a joint webinar or a workshop to share valuable knowledge and increase your audience as well as your website traffic.
Create Your Writer Website in WordPress
Creating a website to promote your writing is necessary if you want to land new clients or increase the sales of your books and ebooks alike in 2020. Learn about how to make your writer's portfolio website in WordPress:
With a carefully selected WordPress theme and a little bit of clever promotion, you’ll be well on your way to creating a successful writing career. Also, if you're on a budget, you can still get a premium website design with one of our free WordPress themes.
Editorial Note: Our staff updates this post regularly—removing older WordPress themes and adding new examples with the best, trending designs.
In this new tutorial, we’ll get rid of the usual boring rectangular boxes and learn to build a landing page full of complex SVG shapes. We’ll even enhance it with Bootstrap styles as well as a full-screen background video.
The best way to understand what we’re going to build is by checking out the demo, so it’s all yours:
Shall we start?
1. Begin With the Necessary Assets
To speed up the development process, I’ve included Bootstrap 4 in the pen.
If you check the markup, you’ll notice that I heavily use Bootstrap’s helper classes. Although not necessary, in case you aren’t familiar with Bootstrap, take a minute to look at its documentation or my other Bootstrap tutorials.
Note: In the demo, there’s also a simple footer layout which I won’t discuss in the tutorial.
3. Create the SVG Sprite
For our layout, we’ll need a bunch of SVG shapes (waves, curves, whatever you’d like to call them). To create them, we won’t use an editing program like Adobe Illustrator or Sketch as you might expect; we’ll generate them by taking advantage of an awesome online tool made by z creative labs.
Pretty cool, right? No need to spend time manually creating them in a program (though obviously you can if you prefer). All we need is to experiment a bit with the options of this tool until we end up with the desired SVGs.
After grabbing the generated code for each SVG, we’ll create a sprite by wrapping them within an SVG container. This is a technique that I’ve discussed many times in the past.
The generated SVG shape code
Note: Depending on the layout, we might have to manually change the SVG’s path color.
We’ll place each icon inside a symbol element with a unique ID and a viewbox attribute which will specify its dimensions. Also, we’ll let it scale without keeping an eye on its aspect ratio thanks to the preserveAspectRatio="none" attribute value. Finally, we’ll render the target icon on the screen via the use element.
Tip: Instead of using an SVG shape, we can create diagonal layouts with other methods like CSS transforms (mainly with the skew() function) and the clip-path property.
Section #1 CSS
As we’ve already discussed this section will be fullscreen. With that in mind, let’s give it height: 100vh. Unfortunately, this unit isn’t still stable across all devices. So, as a best practice, we’ll keep it as a fallback and let JavaScript calculate the section height based on the window height.
I’ve tested the demo in various browsers and devices. It works great, apart from one small issue. In some browsers (like on Firefox) you might see that an SVG leaves a trace like having a bottom border. I’ve encountered this inconsistency as well on other projects for clients where the layout requires absolutely positioned SVGs like here:
Firefox issue; frustrating!
One fix that I’ve tried and seems to work is to decrease the SVG’s viewport height by one. For example, instead of viewBox="0 0 1440 320", set it as viewBox="0 0 1440 319". Feel free to do this modification, if you like.
In this quick tip we’re going to break down exactly what viewport and viewBox are in SVG.
If you know what causes this problem or you have a more elegant fix, share it with us!
Your Web Layout With SVG Shapes is Complete!
That’s all, folks! Today, we learned how to give life to our pages by building non-rectangular layouts with SVG shapes. Let’s recap the steps:
Firstly, we went through a handy online tool that allows us to create different kinds of SVG shapes (curves and waves) in next to no time.
Next, we created an SVG sprite with all the icons wrapped within it.
Then, we rendered all those icons on the screen by setting them as absolutely positioned elements and give them some height.
As discussed earlier, using an inline SVG shape isn’t the only way for creating non-rectangular layouts. Depending on your needs, CSS transforms, the clip-path property, the border-radius property, and even a simple image can also do the job. For most cases though, inline SVGs seem the best way for constructing these complex layouts.
Let’s look at our creation once again:
Layout Challenge
Before closing, I have another challenge for you! This time your job is to extend the demo by adding functionality that stops the video if it’s out of the viewport. Hopefully, one of you will provide a solution in the comments below! Good luck!
As always, thanks a lot for reading!

5 Tips To Boost Your eCommerce Conversion Rate
As a marketplace owner, boosting your conversion rates and improving sales should be at the forefront of your mind. Here are five easy ways to instantly improve your conversion rate:
1. Start Blogging
While many themes on our list feature SEO optimized code, all of them come with the ability to add a blog to your marketplace. Blogging is one of the best ways to keep your website fresh, and you can use it to share more information about vendors and products.
2. Build an Email List
An email list is the most valuable asset for any business owner. After all, what better way to get personal than sending a customized email to your customers with featured products they're most likely to buy? Consider using a theme like Gecko to build your email list with ease—right from the beginning.
3. Use Social Media to Your Benefit
Sharing your products on social media is a must if you want to reach your target audience. Luckily, themes like Oxygen come with social media options built in so buyers can follow you and share your content easily across a variety of social media platforms.
4. Facilitate the Checkout Process
Whenever possible, make the checkout process as easy as possible. This means you shouldn’t ask for more information than is absolutely necessary. If you sell digital products, there is no need to ask for your customers physical address, since no actual shipping is involved. Otherwise, consider using a banner which displays all the steps required to finish the purchase.
5. Use Demo Videos
Videos are a powerful marketing tool which you can use to demonstrate all the benefits of a particular product. They work even better than images, and you can use a theme like Shopkeeper to take full advantage of your videos’ capabilities.
Build Your Own Marketplace Site
Building your own marketplace is no easy task, but with the right combination of a quality WordPress eCommerce theme and plugins, the process is much easier. And when you pair that with the tips mentioned above, you’ll be well on your way to creating a successful marketplace.

That's why we've gathered five tips you can use to make the best jewelry website design. Try some of these gems on your site.

Even in the online shopping age, potential customers still appreciate knowing who they're buying from. That's why it's important to give them background on your website. In this tutorial you’ll learn how to upload or link a PDF file to WordPress. If you’ve ever uploaded an image to the media library in WordPress, doing the same with a PDF is just as straightforward, so let me explain how to do that.
I’m working with a demo PDF file on my system. Make sure the file size isn’t too big (your PHP hosting will likely have a limit on file upload sizes) and ideally your file’s filename shouldn’t contain any strange characters either.
In your WordPress admin go to Media > Library > Add New then use the file chooser to select your PDF, or drag and drop it into the browser:
Once uploaded you’ll be able to give the file a title, a caption, and a description (if you want). And that’s how to upload a PDF to WordPress! Now let’s see a few ways we can link to the PDF.
2. Copy and Paste the PDF File Link
Most importantly you’ll need the link to the file, so copy the whole path as you see it displayed:
You can then use that link and attach it to text in pages or posts within WordPress, by highlighting your chosen link text and adding a link like so:
Once saved, when you view the post on the front end of your website, the link will be present and when clicked will open your PDF in a browser window.
Linking From Images and Buttons
The same thing is possible with images and buttons. For example, upload an image to the WordPress Gutenberg editor, then click the link icon to add the PDF link:
3. Using the Classic WordPress Post Editor
What if you’re not using Gutenberg? The same is possible using the Classic WordPress editor too—the link button is found in the toolbar at the top of the editor:
And that’s how you link to a PDF in WordPress! But wait, there’s one more thing I want to explain..
4. How to Directly Download a PDF From a Link
Before we wrap things up, here’s an additional trick. What if you don’t want users to click your PDF link and open the PDF in another browser window? What if, instead, you’d like the PDF to directly download?
To achieve this, we need access to the HTML markup of the link itself. So in the Classic Editor switch to the text tab:
In the Gutenberg editor you can gain access to the HTML code by clicking the three dots (options) menu like so, and hitting Edit as HTML:
Then (if you’re familiar with reading HTML code) find the link in question, which should look something like this:
Creating a download link in HTML is straightforward; add an anchor tag and point to the file within the href attribute. Some file types, however, won’t be...
That’s All There is to it!
That’s how you can upload a PDF to your WordPress website, and how you can link to it in a few different ways. I hope you found this tutorial useful, take a look at the following resources for more beginners’ tips!

Five Quick Tips For Electronics Store Websites
Choosing the perfect theme for your electronics store is only the first step towards creating a great Shopify website. Here are five quick tips for electronics store Shopify websites.
1. Use High Quality Photos
The first tip is to use high quality photos of your products. This will make it easier for potential customers to see what they’re getting. You’ll also want to make sure to use photos that display your products from various angles.
2. Focus On Benefits But Don’t Forget Features
When buying a product, most people want to know if it will improve their life or situation. But that doesn’t mean that features don’t matter. In the case of electronics stores, your customers will want to know tech specs so be sure to include both benefits and features of your products in product descriptions.
Focus on benefits
3. Use Bullet Points In Product Descriptions
Speaking of product descriptions, avoid using a wall of text. Instead, make use of bullet points to ensure your product descriptions are easy to read and understand.
4. Display Your Policies Clearly
Confusing checkout process, unexpected shipping costs, and long delivery wait times are some of the main reasons for customers abandoning their carts and never completing a purchase. You can avoid this by clearly displaying your store shipping and return policies, typical delivery times, and having a streamlined checkout process.
5. Make Use Of Mega Menus
If you have a lot of product categories, use mega menus to make it easy to navigate your site without cluttering up your main navigation. This will make it easier for your customers and website visitors to find products they’re interested in without being overwhelmed with too many choices.

5 Benefits of Using Premium Real Estate WordPress Themes
Are you still not convinced that using a premium real estate theme will help you create a fully functional website for your agency? I have included a list of five reasons why you should use one of Themeforest’s real estate themes below.
You have the key..
1. No Coding
Absolutely no coding is required with any of these themes. This gives you the flexibility to create a completely custom website with a user-friendly front and back end interface.
2. Save Time and Money
By having a theme that is already designed and has key functions implemented, you can kick start the website creation process without having to start from scratch. Without a premium theme, time and money would need to be spent hiring a website designer to create mockups for your website, implement, and build them.
3. Dedicated Support
All of the themes listed above come with customer support to help you solve any problems that may arise when using them.
4. You Are in Control
While you can use these WordPress real estate themes right out of the box, you still have complete flexibility and control of how your website will function and look. Different themes may offer various features that you can change, but overall the themes give you a level of customization that allows you to fit the theme to your exact needs as a real estate agent.
5. Content Management
When maintaining your website, you will be spending most of your time editing your apartment and property listings. The real estate themes are built to aid you in the listing creation and editing process making it much easier to manage all of your listings.
5 Design Tips for Real Estate Websites to Get More Leads
Choosing the right theme for your real estate website is a great way to come up with an attractive design that also has all the features you need. Here are five tips that will help you make the most out of your new Real Estate WordPress theme.
1. Optimize for Photography
One of the very first things your visitors want to see when they come searching for a property will be the photos. Ensure your chosen theme has plenty of space and features that allow you to showcase both the exterior and the interior of any listed property. You can take advantage of property galleries like those offered in Real Homes to add multiple images to each listing.
2. Make Use of the Booking Form
Adding a booking form makes it easier on the visitors to take action and schedule a tour of the listing. This is a great way to encourage interaction and increase the chances of closing more sales. Consider using a theme like OpalHomes to easily add it to your site.
3. Add Featured Listings to Your Homepage
You can also highlight your own listings on the homepage by adding a featured listing slideshow. This allows you to showcase your best properties and gives visitors a way to easily find the property they’re interested in.
4. Include Useful Information
Listing property information is an absolute necessity, but you can take it a step further and include information that will help your customers get familiar with all the terms. Consider creating a separate page that provides them with an explanation of the buying process as well as terms such as a fixed rate mortgage, adjustable rate mortgage, and more.
5. Incorporate a Signup Form
Lastly, keep in mind that some of your visitors may not be ready to schedule a tour right then and there. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to capture their email address. Include a strategically placed email sign up form so you can stay in touch with them. That way, you can nurture the relationship until they’re ready to buy.

There are times when you’ll need to move a WordPress site to a new domain. You might want to move your site to a new hosting provider, or you might just want to change the domain name. In this post you'll learn how. It's easier than you might think!
The good news is that in most instances, moving a site to a new domain doesn’t actually mean you have to physically move the site. Instead, you can change the WordPress settings so your site behaves as if it’s moved domains. But it still says where it is on your server.
Sometimes moving your domain name will also mean moving your site. Maybe you want to find a better hosting provider. Or maybe you want to move your site into or out of a multisite network. In that case, you’ll need to migrate the site as well as setting up the new domain.
In this tutorial, I’ll help you identify whether you need to physically move your site or not, and then show you how to move your site to a new domain, both if you need to migrate the site and if you don't.
So let’s get started.
Moving to a New Domain Name: Do You Need to Migrate the Site?
In most cases, moving your WordPress site to a new domain name can be done without physically moving the site.
But sometimes you’ll either need or want to migrate the site as well. Here are some scenarios in which that might be the case:
You want to redesign your site at the same time and change to a more suitable hosting plan.
You’re unhappy with your hosting provider and want to switch.
Your site is currently in a multisite network and you want to move it to a standalone site.
Your site is a standalone site and you want to move it into a multisite network (as well as changing the domain).
In these cases, you’ll need to migrate the site as well as changing the domain name. I’ll show you how to do that shortly. But first, let’s look at how you live to a new domain name without actually moving the site.
Switching Domain Names Without Moving Your Site
Changing your domain name is a lot simpler than you might think. And you can do it by tweaking your WordPress settings and running a search for the old domain name in your database, using a plugin.
There are three steps:
Register the new domain name and point it at your site.
Configure WordPress settings to use the new domain name.
Edit the database or set up redirects so internal links to your old domain name are replaced by link to the new one.
Let’s work through these steps.
Register the New Domain Name and Point it at Your Site
If you want to use a new domain name, the first step is to register it. Check that it’s available and if so, register it under your name.
If your hosting provider also registers domain names, it’s simpler to do this with them—that way, you know your new domain name will point at your site.
But if your hosting provider isn’t also a domain registrar, or you’ve also registered the domain name elsewhere, you’ll need to get it pointing at your site.
Check how you do this with your domain registrar. You’ll need to change one of the following:
Nameservers: This will make all aspects of your domain name point to your hosting provider, including email addresses. So if you already have email set up using your domain name, you’ll either need to set that up again with your hosting provider, or use a different option. I tend to use nameservers and then direct email at Gmail using MX records.
A records: Use this to point your domain name at the IP address where your website is hosted. Your hosting provider will be able to give you this.
Once you’ve done that, your domain name will point to the right place, although it can take anything up to a couple of days to work. You can use WhatsMyDNS to check if your DNS changes have propagated around the internet.
Your domain name is now pointing at your site, but your site will still behave as if it’s using the old domain name. So you need to configure some settings.
Configure Domain Settings in WordPress
In the WordPress admin, go to Settings > General. Look for the WordPress Address and Site Address fields. Edit these so they have your new domain name instead of the old one.
Scroll down and click the Save Changes button to save your new domain name. Your site will now work on the new domain name.
Your site is now using a shiny new domain name, but there could still be a problem, and that’s links.
Redirect Links Using the Old Domain Name
If you’ve shared links to your site using the old domain name, anyone using that link will only be taken to the new site if you still have your old domain name pointing at it (which you should). And even if that’s the case, they won’t be taken to the correct page in the site—they’ll either find themselves on the home page or the 404 page.
So any important links need to have redirects set up. Install a redirection plugin like the free Redirection or the more full-featured premium Advanced WP Redirect plugin and create reductions from the relevant posts or pages using the old domain name to those using the new domain name.
Alternatively you can set up a wildcard redirect from the old domain name to the new one, using a plugin or using cPanel in your hosting provider’s dashboard. This will catch any old links and send them to a link with the same slug using the new domain name.
With the redirection plugin you can set up a wildcard redierct, which will redirect all slugs using your old domain name to the same slug on your new domain name. This means you have to keep the slugs for your posts the same when you change domino names, and that you mustn’t change the URL structure of your permalinks. If you just leave everything as it is, you won’t go wrong.
You’ll need to enable regex functions first, as the wildcard asterisk is a regex function.
Go to Tools > Redirection and go to Add new redirection section of the screen.
Click on the URL Options/Regex drop down and check the Regex box.
In the Source URL field, type the old path with a wildcard. It needs to take the form /(.*)$. The entry for Target URL needs to take the source /$1.
Click Save Changes to save your redirect settings.
Remove Internal Links Using the Old Domain Name
Redirects work for links you’ve shared externally. But for links internal to the site, there’s a better fix, and that’s to edit those links to point to the new domain name.
Install a plugin like Better Search Replace and use it to replace all instances of the old domain name in your database with the new domain name. This means any internal links in your post or page content or in widgets will be updated to reflect the new domain name.
Before you do this, you should always back up your database. This involves directly editing the database and if you do it wrong, it’ll be difficult to undo. So use your backup software of choice to make a backup and save it somewhere safe.
Then go to Tools > Better Search Replace to access the plugin screen.
In the Search for field, type in your old domain name. In the Replace with field, type in your new domain name. It’s a good idea to include the https:// or https:// so you don’t find yourself replacing instances of email addresses that haven’t changed. If you do, make sure you do it for both the search and replace fields.
Note: When you set up your new domain name, it’s good practice to add SSL to your site so it’s at https://yourdomain.com. Set this up before running a search and replace and use https:// in the replace field. Learn how to set up SSL with our free guide.
Next, you can select the tables you want to search. Either leave this at all tables, or select the wp_posts table to replace instances of your domain in your posts and pages—this normally picks up everything you need.
Keep Run as dry run checked so you can test things before editing your database (not something you should do lightly).
Click the Run Search/Replace button to run the search. The plugin will tell you how many instances of your search term it found and give you the opportunity to run the replacement again for real. You can also look at the list of results it returns and check them. If you’re happy, run the search/replace for real.
You may then find you have to log into your site again because of the domain change, or that you have to refresh your browser cache to get rid of old links in any cached pages. Do this and your site should be running with the new domain name throughout.
One word of warning: if there are any valid instances of the old domain name (eg. email addresses) in your post or page content, you’ll need to exclude these from the search replace.
Your site will now be working on the new domain name—and you didn’t have to physically move the files at all.
Migrating Your Site to a New Location and Domain Name
But what if you do actually need to move your site from one place to another, as well as moving the domain name?
Moving your site will take a little longer, but can be done.
There are four possible ways to do it:
Ask your new hosting provider to run the migration for you, if you’re switching hosting providers. Most providers will do one migration for free.
Use an automated tool provided by your hosting provider to run the migration, if they provide one. Siteground, for example, has a migration tool that you install on your old site and it automatically moves all of your content and settings to your new site.
Use a migration plugin to migrate your site from one place to another. Code canyon has number of migration plugins that will do this for you.
Run the migration manually. This will involve copying the files and the database as well as installing WordPress in the new location. You can find out how to do this in our guide to migrating WordPress manually.
If your site is moving into or out of a multisite network, this will complicate things - but not make them impossible. You can either use a migration plugin that supports multisite, or follow our guides to manually migrating WordPress out of a network or into a network.
Summary
Moving your WordPress site from one domain to another doesn’t have to mean moving your site at all. Instead, you can just point the domain name at your site and make some changes to the settings, and you’re done.
But if you do need to physically move your site, then it’s not so hard as you may think. Follow the tips above and you’ll soon have your site working on your shiny new domain name.

1. Make Your Class Schedule Easily Accessible
The first tip is to make your class schedule easily accessible. After all, that is the most important information your website visitors will be interested in. By making it easy to find, your visitors will be more likely to sign up for the classes.
2. Include A Call To Action
Each page on your site should include a call to action. This will increase the likelihood of your visitors taking the desired action which is to get them to sign up for your class.
3. Share Trainer Profiles
Dedicate a page on your site to trainer profiles. People like to know more about their trainers so this information should be easy to find and access.
4. Include An FAQ
Use the FAQ section or page on your site to make sure your members come fully prepared into your CrossFit program. Provide information about how long each session lasts, how should they prepare, nutrition information, and any other relevant details they need to know.
5. Make It Easy To Sign Up
Adding a call to action will increase the likelihood of people signing up but the sign up process itself needs to be easy and intuitive. Include a form that asks only for the necessary information and allows them to choose a time that’s most convenient for them.

5 Quick Product Landing Page Design Tips for 2020
Creating a single product landing page is made easier with a template. If yours is from Envato Elements or ThemeForest, it already has professional design. But if you want to take your single product landing page design to the next level, follow these tips:
1. Have Focused Design
A lot of businesses forget that a landing page is for capturing leads. That's why you need to make sure your product launch landing page is centered on a single offer. That means your design should be focused on directing visitors to where they can share their information.
Vero is a simple landing page that keeps the focus on your product or service.
2. Keep Words to a Minimum
A piece of having focused design is reducing the number of words you use. Nothing will make visitors leave quicker than walls of text. Some ways you can keep the amount of text low is by using bullets and icons to describe key product features.
3. Feature Attention-Grabbing Visuals
This may seem like a no-brainer, but the internet is full product launch landing pages that neglect this element. Get creative. Add photos, videos, and illustrations to your landing page.
You can even just use a bold custom font. You'd be surprised by how much of a difference it makes.
As you add different pieces to your landing page, don't forget about white space. This is an important design concept. It refers to the space between elements on a page.
The space between photos and text boxes is just one example. Check out your favorite websites and how they use white space for some product landing page inspiration.
Masnoo is a template that's very easy on the eyes thanks to its use of white space.
5. Don't Use Navigation Bars
As mentioned earlier in this section, landing pages are meant to capture leads. Navigation bars on landing pages give visitors a way to avoid sharing their information. This lowers conversions. Remove this temptation by letting visitors focus on your page's content.

Five Quick Tips For eCommerce Website
Once you’ve found the perfect modern eCommerce Shopify template, it’s time to design and launch your site. Here are five quick tips to help you get started.
1. Display Store Policies Clearly
Most visitors will want to know your shipping and return policies before they make a purchase. As such, you need to make sure they are easy to find. You can add links to those pages on your homepage or you can link to them in the footer menu.
2. Showcase Popular Products On The Homepage
Make it easy for visitors to find popular products by displaying them on the homepage. You can easily create a popular collection in Shopify and add it anywhere on your homepage.
3. Consider Installing A Live Chat App
While having a contact page is a great way to make it easy for customers to get in touch with you, consider installing a live chat app too. This will make it even easier for visitors to ask you questions that could be preventing them from completing the purchase.
4. Optimize For Mobile
Almost half of all internet traffic comes from mobile devices. As such your store needs to be optimized for mobile devices. Make sure your chosen template is responsive and that the form fields are easy to fill out on smaller screens.
5. Simplify Checkout
Complicated checkout process is one of the top reasons for abandoned carts. Consider using a one-page checkout process to make it easy for visitors to complete the purchase. You can also remove any unnecessary fields from your checkout form. For example, remove the address field if you sell digital products.

This simple portfolio theme is definitely one of my personal favorites, partly because of the option for a split slider on the homepage. You can create a really effective homepage by uploading connected but different imagery, allowing the user to scroll as more images unfold. Photosy also supports video and audio content so you’re not limited in terms of the multimedia you want to publish to the world. It’s fully responsive, SEO-friendly, and comes with Contact Form 7 so new and current clients can seamlessly get in touch.

Almera | Model Agency & Photo Portfolio WordPress Theme
You can’t get much cooler than this template which offers a subtle reflection below each of the images displayed. The horizontal slide action forces the eye to pay attention to each of the photos in the gallery, it’s a distinct feature as many templates tend to opt for vertical scrolling.
It comes complete with widgets including recent posts and popular posts to help you keep your content fresh.
With 24 demos and more than 70 gallery and portfolio layouts, this is a photo gallery WordPress template with customization at its heart. It’s hard to pick a favorite layout as the template offers so much variety—you can either choose to display one image on the homepage or a selection of your best shots. This one also offers the option to add a direct purchase link so visitors can instantly buy after viewing a gallery slideshow.
A real perk of this template is the ability to combine any vertical with horizontal imagery without impacting the site’s seamless design. Plus, depending on the amount of content you’d like to display, you can choose between 4, 3, and 2 column grids—a great option if you’re just starting out and will be adding to your photography as you go along.
KON/CEPT - A Portfolio Theme for Creative People
You also have lots of flexibility in terms of navigation styles and can choose from full, sidebar, minimal, or classic.
Gutenberg optimized, this template is not only super customizable, it couldn’t be easier to use—simply drag and drop content blocks to where you want them to live and away you go.
Again, this is a template that has it all—fullscreen design to show off your favorite pics, it’s responsive and retina-ready, it offers light and dark skins, plus it supports fullscreen video. The image flow gallery is a particularly attractive feature.
This almost brooding site puts the photography front and center—in fact, it entirely removes other distractions completely. The way the images scroll through the site gives the template a luxurious and high-quality feel. It also offers simple photo optimization to prevent any slow loading times which can negatively impact bounce rate.
Although this one has loads of features so will have a wide appeal, its sophisticated vibe means it would very much belong to an ultra-cool design studio.
With the developers boasting more than 100,000 happy customers, if you opt for the Grand template you’ll be far from the first to invest in this theme. Also, with more than 144 predesigned galleries and pages, it’s easy to imagine how your own WordPress site can look. My favorite gallery option is ‘Justified Wide’ as it offers the chance to hero a shot while also allowing users the chance to quickly scroll through others to see if any other imagery is more suitable for their needs.
This template screams cool. Almost looking like it belongs to the pages of a high-end fashion magazine, the full-width imagery naturally scrolls with smooth animations, allowing the users to be naturally guided through the portfolio. Videos are also fully supported.
A great thing about this theme is although photography remains the focus, there’s plenty of room to either add copy to tell your story or play around with the image sizes to best fit the content you have available (or both!). There are 32 galleries to choose from so you can find the perfect match.

In this post, I'll show you how to redirect a page or URL in WordPress. You'll learn how to set up automatic redirects, manual redirects and wildcard redirects in WordPress.
Why Redirect Pages or URLs?
There are a number of times when you might need to redirect a post, page or URL in WordPress.
Maybe you’ve changed the slug for a post or page. Maybe you’ve amended your permalink settings. Or maybe you’ve written a new post and want to redirect an old post to that.
In all of these cases, you’ll need to set up a redirect. This tells browsers to go to the new URL instead of the old one.
To set up redirects, you’ll need to install a plugin. In this guide, I’m going to show you how to do it with the Redirection plugin.
Why Not Use Redirects?
Setting up redirects isn’t ideal. It slows things down for the user, because the browser will go to the first URL, get the redirect message, then go to the second URL. And there is a risk that you’ll set up the redirect wrong, or simply forget to do it after changing a URL. Not only that, but links coming through a redirect aren't worth as much for SEO—Google just doesn't value them as highly.
So it’s a good idea to avoid changing your URLs altogether.
To minimize changing URLs, make sure you optimize them right from the start:
Configure your permalink settings to use pretty permalinks when you first set up your site and before you add any posts or pages.
Configure the slug for each post or page before you publish it. Make sure it’s optimised for search engine optimization (SEO) and for user experience (UX).
But if you haven’t already done this, and you need to redirect your URLs, how do you do it?
How to Set Up Page and URL Redirects in WordPress
There are a few different kinds of redirect that you might want to set up for WordPress. The kinds you'll most likely be using are:
automated redirects
manual redirects
wildcard redirects
Let’s take a look at each.
Setting up Automated Redirects
If you haven't already installed the Redirection plugin for WordPress, do so now. When you first install the Redirection plugin, it gives you the option to automatically track changes to URLs and to set up redirects. It will also check the revisions to your existing posts and pages and set up redirects from old slugs you might have used for them.
In the screenshot below it’s picked up on a change to an existing post’s slug and added a redirect from the old slug to the new one.
If I make any changes to my slugs or URLs after activating the plugin, it will track those and automatically set up the redirect. Below you can see the Redirection screen after making more slug changes.
Setting up Manual Redirects
Sometimes the plugin won’t pick up on the redirect you need, maybe because you want to redirect one post to another or you want to redirect a URL on your domain to a different domain.
In this case, you’ll need to set up a manual redirect.
Go to Tools > Redirection and scroll down to the Add new redirection section.
In the Source URL field, type or paste in the URL you want to redirect from. In the Target URL field, type or paste in the URL you want to redirect to. In the Group field, either leave it as Redirections (the default) or select Modified posts if you’re directing from an old post to a newer version. This will give browsers information telling them what kind of redirect it is.
Finally, click the Add Redirect button and your manual redirect will be added to the list of redirects.
Setting up Wildcard Redirects
Use a wildcard redirect when you want to redirect a set of URLs which share certain elements. For example if you change your permalink structure, a wildcard redirect will send anyone using a link using your old structure to the same link using your new structure.
For example, if you’ve changed your permalink structure for posts from /blog/post-name to /category/post-name, you’ll need to use a wildcard redirect to ensure anyone using the old links is redirected to the new URL.
Wildcard redirects use something called Regex, which lets you create advanced redirects. You’ll need to enable Regex functions first.
Go to Tools > Redirection and scroll to the Add new redirection section of the screen.
In the Source URL field, type the old path to categories, with a wildcard. It needs to take the form /oldslug/(.*)$. The entry for Target URL needs to take the source /newslug/$1. Then click the Add Redirect button.
Conclusion
If you change the URLs in your WordPress site or create a new post to replace an old one, you’ll need to set up a redirect. Depending on the changes you've made, you might use an automatic redirect, manual redirect, or wildcard redirect. In this post you learned how to create redirects for different circumstances.

Top 5 Tips to Spice Up Your Blog
Now that we've covered the templates, here are a few more tips that'll help you make your blog more appealing to your readers:
1. Use a Variety of Content Types
While most blogs stick to written content, there's no need to limit yourself. Consider adding audio and video into the mix to allow for more content variety and cater to your reader's lifestyle. Using videos and audio posts allows them to consume your content even when they're on the go.
Adding images to your blog helps you tell your story and makes the written content easier to consume. On top of that, it makes your content more shareable since research shows that visual content performs better on social media.
One great source for high-quality stock photos is Envato Elements. Take a look at our collections featuring thousands of images and download as many as you need with your monthly subscription.
3. Capitalize on Sharing Modules
Make use of the social media and sharing modules available for Joomla. This will allow your readers to share your content so you can get new readers on the regular. It'll also make it easy for them to follow you on social media so you can engage and connect with them.
Make sure your chosen template is responsive and loads fast. Not only will this improve your SEO rank, but it'll also provide your readers with a better user experience. Be cautious about downloading a blog template for Joomla for free. Free templates often don't offer the same level of features as premium templates.
5. Take Advantage of Styling Options
Lastly, take advantage of styling options that come with your theme. Incorporating your brand into your blog will make you instantly recognizable to your readers, allow you to attract your ideal audience, and make you stand out among other blogs in your niche.

Almost every day, crowdfunding success stories hit the headlines. Maybe it’s people uniting across the globe to help a charitable cause, or customers pledging to turn an idea into reality–however the platform is used, it puts the power in people’s hands to make a difference.
Whatever your reason for building a crowdfunding website, there are loads of options out there to bring your campaign to life. Even if you don’t have traditional design skills, you can select a high-quality crowdfunding theme for WordPress from ThemeForest, which you can then customize to make it your own.
Why Create a Crowdfunding Website?
Get People to Donate
The clue is in the name! Crowdfunding is all about driving financial support from multiple people to help spread the cost. Whether you’re working in the private or public sector, your website will give people a platform to part with their money in order to make the overarching goal possible.
It’s Growing!
In 2019 alone, global crowdfunding had a transaction value of US$6,923.6m–it’s almost an unfathomable statistic. And what’s more, by 2023, it’s expected to grow by another 14.7%–clearly, crowdfunding is big business and creating a website will give you the chance to get involved.

Raise Awareness
To maximize donations, you need a platform to educate people about what you are trying to achieve. Your WordPress site can tell the overarching story of your campaign while enabling others to share your story through social media.
Update People with Progress
Maybe a milestone has been reached or an obstacle is ahead, your site is the place to ensure people are kept updated. Most crowdfunding sites show users exactly how much money has been raised to date, meaning they can then act accordingly.
Inform Supporters About Events
If you have an event coming up and you’re looking for attendees or volunteers, you can use your website to update everyone and invite them along! Photos from the events can also be shared on your website to show people how widely your campaign is supported.

WordPress crowdfunding platform tips are a nice piece of advice for your next project
1. Design to Your Niche
The popularity of crowdfunding means there’s no shortage of WordPress templates out there. Remember, your website is telling the story of your campaign–if you are raising money for a charitable cause, make sure you don’t select a website that looks too corporate for example.
2. Integrate with Commerce
It sounds obvious, but ensure you select a template that enables users to quickly and easily donate. The number one goal must be to encourage people to help you reach your target, and therefore the user journey must be extremely simple. Using a Crowdfunding WordPress theme will allow you to leverage the WooCommerce plugin, giving users the opportunity to financially back the campaign.
Make sure to include links to your social media profiles plus any information to verify your campaign as part of an official charity or start-up venture. In rare cases, scammers have been known to target crowdfunding websites–if you are asking people to part with their money, you need to take steps to prove your authenticity.
4. Make it Shareable
The more people know about your campaign, the more likely you are to receive donations. Pick a template with ample sharing opportunities and use your copywriting to encourage people to post about your campaign on their social media channels.
If someone has backed your project, including their name or other details of the donation can be a nice touch. It shows how valued the supporters are and can indicate to others how much on average people are pledging or donating.

First Thing First: Why Create a WordPress Wedding Website?
Save Money
Depending on how many people you’re inviting, sending physical invites can be pricey–especially if you have overseas guests. Buying and editing a WordPress wedding theme can be a cost-effective way to get your message out there without breaking the bank.
Update as You Go
The average wedding takes 528 hours; or 22 full days, to plan–and with many couples opting for longer engagements, lots can change from “yes” to “I do”! Creating a website is simple and enables couples to quickly update guests as plans progress.
Tell Your Story
With a traditional paper wedding invite, you can only say so much. A WordPress wedding website takes your content up a gear by allowing guests to read the stories of your adventures together, as well as scroll through photography of the happy couple.
Keep Content in One Place
Creating a WordPress wedding website allows guests to scroll through all the necessary information at one time–think information about the wedding party, gift lists, venue, accommodation, dress code, and more. Plus, there’s less risk in guests losing any of the important details along the way!
